Listening to Devlin's debut, Bud, Sweat & Beers. This album has been a long time coming and I've said this kid is one to watch (well, he's 22 now but he's been around a good while). The album doesn't disappoint. Really good UK rap. Some have called it grime as that has become the name for UK rap but it doesn't sound like grime in the way I understand it - doesn't have those garage roots.
Some really good raps and some excellent samples. The opening one has a great strings sample - not sure where it's from but I think Army Of The Pharaohs used the same sample in one of theirs. One sample is from Chrono Trigger (or maybe Cross...?). And one comes from Hikari Utada's Kingdom Hearts 2 track. The guy must be a gamer - an earlier track on one of his mixtapes came from Tomb Raider.
If you like rap, it's worth checking out. With this, Giggs and more, the best rap is easily coming out of the UK right now.

Know Your Enemy: Rage Against The Machine
Am I the only person who gets all discombobulated when speakers and particularly headphones are delivering sound only through one channel? There's a short section in this where the guitar is outputting through the left channel only and it's horrible!

Anyone heard that new Tinchy Stryder track? It features Giggs, Professor Green, Example, Devlin, Tinie Tempah and Chipmunk. An amazing guest line-up. Almost everyone hitting big in the UK right now. The track itself is pretty basic and just lets them do their thing. I'm loving Devlin right now and he didn't disappoint. Example I'm not a big fan of but his turn on this really impressed me. Giggs had one of my favourite rap albums of this year but he opens this one and it's pretty understated.

"United States" is a BEHEMOTH! I love the way the song finishes then builds to the real end. Just brilliant.
Have you heard either of the Teargarden by Kaleidyscope collections? I've only heard snippets, but it sounds like Billy forgot to bring his Big Muff
