armin van buuren - a state of trance (episode 293)

now i've never really been a fan of trance at all but there's some fantastic choons on this collection, a few stonking dance tracks and some really nice mellow tunes.

Regina Spektor - singer songwriter who one minute comes across as a kind of lightweight Norah Jones, then the next as a pretty complex and interesting artist in the same way Bjork used to be. I'm a bit terrified she's gonna turn out to be being marketed as the former and that I am, but extension, a twat.

I'm also listening to Transglobal Underground and Go! Team.

Her independent releases are exceptional, but since going major, you can tell the powers that be have tried to market her as Another Insipid Female Singer-Songwriter.

Got the Jay Farrar album Sebastopal as a birthday present so I will give that a listen this afternoon.

absolute class. watching the film, you don't realise how good the music is until you listen to it on it's own. chock full of electro-goodness. and it has selected samples from the dialogue

i'm running through my 'random' folder on the pc which mostly contains tracks from singles and such, remixes and edits. the tracklist is some 29 hours long so i'm not getting through it today at all.

aside from that i'm giving some serious time to armin van buuren's 'a state of trance' series which is pretty awesome stuff.

Gone between Arcade Fire-Funeral and the few songs that are about from Siobhan Donaghy's new album Ghosts, I can't wait till it comes out as so far it exceeds the promise that was there on her first album.
Day one purchase for me, and maybe the album I live my summer according to.
