The Twang. Wasn't sure if they were just over-rated band of the week from the NME, but their album is surprisingly good. Some great lyrics (like Arctic Monkeys) but IMO better music backing them up.

Ash's last album 'Meltdown' which has really grown on me. Im a massive ASH fan and have been for teh years, but they do have a tendency to be a singles band rather than an album band, which is not a bad thing, except there albums tend to be 3 great tracks then a load of doosh. Meltdown is pretty groovy, all be it a grower. Evil Eye and Starcrossed being faves imo Tim Wheeler is a bit of a lyrical genuis when hes 'on'

the man can write pop songs like no other... gloriously singalongable. i thought meltdown was a bit weak myself, it's currently the 'bad' album in their 'good, bad, good, bad....' way of producing things. which means the new album should be stonking.

today i am listening to tool. all of it. currently on 'undertow'

Apparently they announced it was their last album but they're concentrating on releasing singles via the 'net as theres a quicker turnaround than waiting 6 months for an album to be released after its finished. They believe the days of the album are dead and will release compilations of singles in the future.

Not been a fan of Ash since the first album, these comments further compound that, as i am a big fan of the 'album', 12 or so cohesive pieces of music are hard to come by in this 'quick fix' culture we live in.

On that note, today i put on The Sea and the Cake's album 'The Biz' nice, summery and jazzy (think Phoenix meets the Flaming Lips) for such a rainy day .

Listening to Ryan Adams "Easy Tiger" again today, really nice album that reminds me of "Gold" in it's style! Quite a short record really though at 38 minutes, nevermind, I'm sure he'll release another few albums this year!
