This is the bad guy from Luke Cage? Hmm I am now officially interested. I turned off series 2 after 1 episode perhaps I didn't give it a chance but the 1st series was so so good it was always going to be a hard act to follow.

It appears that HBO are happy enough with the latest performance of the new season that a fourth season will happen though they aren't going to move ahead until the story is in place

This series of True Detective has been consistently brilliant. Eager to see where it all goes now but it is astounding how much better this season is than last season. I wonder if many are skipping it due to just how bad last season was.

Well I found the ending a little clumsy but overall it was a brilliant season and it managed to pay off. Great characters and how they ran the three timelines was excellent. Like we’re living in an entirely different universe to the one where season 2 happened.

It was a bit anti climactic but yes overall an excellent series. I thought both leads were great.

Definitely in for this. S3 did a good job making up for the wounds that S2 inflicted, hopefully this continues on an upward trend.

Am I right in thinking the first season is the only one worth watching?

I put the first season on an incredibly high pedestal and think it is absolutely brilliant, some of the best TV I've ever had the pleasure of watching. The second is genuinely worth skipping, and whereas the third isn't quite a full return to the quality of the first, it is very good and well worth watching.
