Admittedly, they say that for two specific holidays - Thanksgiving and New Years', and the Christmas period between them.

I actually kinda like it because they have a really deliniated period where the Christmas season starts; anyone putting up Christmas deco/shops doing Christmas promotions before Thanksgiving is seen as weird. That avoids the nebulous thing we have in the UK where we're starting to see Christmas gear up in the shops the moment they take Halloween stuff down.

Now please make way, I am an old man and I shall yell at this cloud

To be honest, they've been doing that for at least 20 years now.

Original trilogy is on Prime Video if anybody doesn't own it.

Also Netflix in the UK. Got to assume that's intentional.

            Whisper it...

            I don't have Netflix...

We're an hour in to the original, forgot how low action and high exposition the film is. It's interesting though as there's already several references that could easily retroactively feel like they would apply to a fourth film

I’m guessing the trailer for The Matrix 3.0 + 1.0 You Can (Not) Resurrect is deliberately misdirecting us into making it look like they’ve basically remade the original movie with some of the original cast?

I imagine the robots took the hard drive to data recovery specialists or maybe had a back up of the matrix.

Found a good YouTube channel for a bit of deep dive into the films.
Like all these things I don't prescribe to all of it.

Does it deep dive into why the word “upgrades” was the worst hand-waviest way to undo the ending progression of the first movie and I still haven’t quite forgiven them for it? I’m sure they cover that.

Eh, well the Oracle says programs get replaced with better ones. So...
It was a bit ass. My biggest gripe is why Morpheus can fight an upgraded agent on the roof of a moving lorry, but got his ass kicked by Smith in a bathroom in the original.

Maybe Neo mashing up Smith was like a hacker exploiting a vulnerability, and the upgraded agents had that vulnerability patched?

I feel silly just typing that, but I’d never thought much about the upgrades line.

I thought that made perfect sense? A big part of the first movie's message was about how belief shapes our worldview.

I always thought them failing to fight agents, then later succeeding, is their version of "the jump test" from the first movie.

It’s that, at that point, the agents have been upgraded to the point where Neo, a virtual god at the end of the first movie with the ability to deconstruct agents who could kick Morpheus’ ass, had to go back to beating them up and yet Morpheus, who couldn’t beat the original agents, could now hold his own against them. But really, it’s just that they wanted more fights.

I like to think Morpheus booked a few days off and binged on martial arts floppy disks between the first and second films.

I mean, he duffed up a car just using his sword:
