Carrie Coon (Fargo, Widows, The Leftovers) and almost unsurprisingly Finn Wolfhard (It, Stranger Things) are both said to be being lined up to appear in Ghostbusters III. Coon would play the single mother to Wolfhard's role, him and his friends discovering the ghostly threat that brings back the original busters team.

Am I wrong to read that as suggesting the film is a LONG way off. Surely he should be locked in by now?

The films still locked to start filming next month and release July next year so I feel the suggestion is that he's either not being lined up to appear or it'll just be a small cameo rather than a key role

Aykroyd says that post-GB3 they have one or two other projects in the works but beyond that he's already written a treatment for Ghostbusters High which would have Egon, Ray and Peter meeting up at High School in the 1960's in a prequel to the original film... which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and will never get made.
