Nah, he's serviceable. To be fair chunk of the issue is the films themselves. Even Bond hates being Bond these days

Absolutely agree. I just can not understand what people have against him. Sure quantum of solice was a bit weak but every other bond he was in were very entertaining. And this last outing topples them all, yes, even Casino Royal IMO.

Just finished watching Spectre and if I'm being fair I'd say much of it probably does come down to the films themselves. I'd say Casino Royale is a good go to, as it towers above the three that followed quality wise.

It was mentioned in an earlier comment but the odd films were generally well received (Casino Royale, Skyfall) and the even ones not so much (Quantum of Solace and Spectre). If No Time To Die keeps to the pattern it should be a strong finish which is all we can really ask for tbh.

I'll be watching this on Tuesday also and hope it warrants the long runtime.

Lets just say that you need to have watch Spectre and also I'd go as far as saying knowing the background of Craig's other bond outings (besides quantum of solice) would also give a little more insight. But yeah, definitely you need to have watched Spectre to fully understand the story.

I watched Spectre twice when it originally came out (once on my own and the second time with a group of friends). It has good parts and the original introduction to Blofeld at the organisation table at the manor was well done (keeping him in the shadows was quite effective). The film has some very meandering parts as well which is a shame as tightening up the runtime could have helped the film be better received.

I'll reserve my judgement on the new one until after we leave the cinema (I appreciate the recent verdicts but don't want to read many more before we watch it tomorrow).

You're definitely seeing it, so you should go in with as blank a slate as possible, IMHO, rather than be swayed by other opinions or risk spoilers.

I saw the new Jimmy B film last night and enjoyed it. It certainly feels it’s length but looks great and has some genuine surprises in it.

So, I'm back from watching the film and I'm going to say that I know many enjoy the Craig entries but after viewing No Time to Die I feel like my opinions of his era are almost cast in iron. Like, I'm on the side of Right or something in that all the issues I have with them are correct and that the quality bar for Quantum but more so Skyfall then Spectre isn't anywhere worthy of the success and praise the series or Craig receives. I mentioned before that Casino Royale being so much damned better a film proved it and so we come to No Time to Die, a film that follows on from Spectre...

Breath the moment in QC - The new film was good... like, damned good. The Craig era has struggled hard with marrying the grounded, miserable tone with classic Bond elements but it feels like they finally nailed it with this one. If I could lay out various plot points and beats I should hate this one but it's just so damned well made. The direction is on point and feels like it's made by someone who is actively enjoying getting to make a Bond film, Craig feels like he's playing a different version at times - it's like Bond has had a personality transplant and is finally how he should have been all along. I'll hold off further as we've been avoiding spoilers so far whilst the film is new but if I had to highlight something that is a shame about this new film it would be that it largely requires knowledge of much inferior entries to get the most out of it. It's a tease of what could have been and frankly, a great entry and a great and worthy point for Craig to bow out of the franchise.

Recently got back from watching it with my friend at the local cinema and Neon has summed up many of my thoughts already. Wonderfully shot, good action set pieces, more time spent with the right characters from previous films and a good way of closing out Craig's era as the famed British spy. I'll be happy to talk about it more in-depth once more people have had the chance to see it.
