All Time Great TV and Film Musical Interludes

Like a solid and all round entertaining opening to a show, the success of any musical sections within a production can be important to the overall success of the programme or film as a whole. Whilst releases that heavily feature musical sections aren't too common, it's still a device used for effect regularly enough and a strong one can really stick in your mind.

Sometimes it's for comedic effect, sometimes for dramatic and others simply to build the chance for a soundtrack release to be issued down the line. From musical one-off episodes to fully soundtracked feature films...

What musical sequences in TV and Film still stand out in your mind when you think back to the whole production?

As with the Openers thread, TV based animated series can often be a gold mine for them.

Only one. The rap on Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, and that was a pisstake.

Does this really apply to anything other than South Park?

Pretty much anything with a musical element to it. Could be anything from Disney's large catalogue of sequences right through to the musical episode of Xena.

A more current one would be Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

      or Scrubs

or for a more classic choice Singing in the Rain

Quite often, musical interludes are used in a montage...
