Gunn: A Lot Of DC Slate Still Unannounced - Dark Horizons
James Gunn has confirmed that the existing known Chapter One content of the DCU represents less than half of what is planned for the Chapter with the final total coming in around 20 projects across series and film before Chapter Two begins. By the time Chapter Two ends 10 years will have passed and an over arcing tale will have been told across the two chapters.

Shazam: Fury of the Gods
So, we're close to the end of the current DCU incarnation and it seems to be the done thing to be automatically down on anything DCU related I always felt that whilst not one of the greats, the original Shazam was a fun, nice little film that deserved more recognition. It always felt like a bonus that it was allowed a sequel at all and here we are with what is the second and sure to be the last film for these actors if not characters. Before anything else, the character of Billy is already aging out of his childhood so the hook is already vanishing meaning that if the DCU had continued we'd have likely only got a third film at best anyway but the sequel is in a way the inverse of the original. Billy has his family and people around him but they're all growing up and out of the foster system so they are ready to move on and he doesn't want to lose them having finally found people he can trust. Also, whilst the Wizard chose him as worthy to be champion, Billy never had a reason to believe in himself the same way so this sequel deals with that. It's too fast paced to do it justice and you get a lot less time with the kids which is a shame but it's light again and the second half picks up the slack of the first. There are a couple of solid humour moments that land and broadly I'd say that it's roughly a similar companion to the first. If you weren't a fan it still won't win you over but those who liked the first should enjoy this.
There's been two superhero films released in 2023 so far and I'd say this is the better one of the two.

Gunn Talks Superhero Fatigue, Marvel Issues - Dark Horizons
Gunn says that Superman: Legacy won't aim to be tonally akin to Guardians at all and that superhero fatigue only exists if the filmmakers take their eyes off the ball and stop making interesting character driven stories about them.
