I got tired of the MCU but now that we're ploughing through the films I'm really enjoying myself. It's not nearly the slog I thought it would be.
It also means I don't have to introduce my wife to the DCU which I was considering but also dreading because, while there's less to go through, the films themselves aren't great.

Ironically, between now and the end of next month Marvel has Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame out
But - I'm more interested in seeing Shazam. I have to admit, I'm getting pretty deep now in the apathy for new MCU movies and their generic template now even though I enjoy them when I watch them. I'm finding myself more drawn to the DCU films which are definitely weaker but massively more varied and interesting looking at the line up planned

That's a fair argument SF. I'll be seeing Captain Marvel on the weekend and I think I'll enjoy but I'm not sure if its going to break any substantial new ground. On the other hand I have very little doubt that Avengers: Endgame will be absolutely brilliant. They filmed it back-to-back with Infinity War so I highly doubt they'll drop the ball with it (at least I hope not).

I saw Captain Marvel earlier today. Thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s not breaking any new ground but it’s well done and has a bit more heart than most CGI heavy blockbusters. Brie Larson is a good actress who takes to the role with ease and gives the character some grounding. The Vers-Fury relationship works well and I admit I am amazed at how well the de-aging technique has worked on Fury and Colson.
If you’re an auld dinosaur like me you’ll be swallowed up in 90’s nostalgia too.
The mid credits scene brings you back to earth with a bang and sets the scene for Endgame. The post credits scene isn’t really worth waiting for but is quite funny if predictable.

Fury looked good with his de-aging but Coulson looked a little off...at least for me. Almost as if his face was unable to emote (which isn't too much of a stretch as Coulson only really has the one look). It was a decent film though, I rather enjoyed it. Everyone who is slating it because of the drama surrounding Brie Larson is only doing it because it's seen as trendy to do so. It's not one of Marvel's best but it's still a very fun time at the pictures.

BRILLIANT!! Loved every minute of it. As origin films go this was a really strong one.
Humour was good, SFX were overall very good, soundtrack was aces.
Can't wait for Endgame.
Can't wait for them to give Thanos the smackdown now!

Watched Captain Marvel at the weekend and it was decent. It's not amazing tier MCU stuff and despite the nods and de-aging effects I don't feel it sold the 90's action movie vibe anywhere near the level they'd talked it up as doing. It's a very interesting film from a reflection point of view though, Black Panther was a similar level of quality and has been raved out the ears yet I'd still rewach this over Panther in a heartbeat and I think it's because Captain Marvel was just fun whereas Panther is a bit of a trudge. When Endgame is out the way and Marvel sets about making Captain Marvel 2, hopefully they go all out as it's a solid foundation for her in a similar way that First Avenger was for the original Cap.

Spoilers for Captain Marvel as Feige talks about where things could go down the line in the MCU:
http://www.darkhorizons.com/marvels-...mar-vell-more/
Feige says the decision to make the Supreme Intelligence be the same as Mar-Vell came late in the film and the change to make the Skrulls sympathetic to the audience doesn't rule out an eventual adaptation of the Secret Invasion storyline. He also suggests the current line of thinking is that a sequel would explore what Captain Marvel was up to during her 20 year absence. That would presumably be the idea of the film set in the past they want to do meaning Captain Marvel 3 would be set in the present day.
Feige also confirms that cameos with Stan Lee will appear in Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home
http://www.darkhorizons.com/ranking-...niverse-films/
In light of Captain Marvel's release, Dark Horizons has updated its tier list for the MCU as follows:
The Very Good Entries:
-Captain America: The Winter Soldier
-Guardians of the Galaxy
-Iron Man 3
-Iron Man
-Thor
-The Avengers
-Captain America: The First Avenger
The Good Ones
-Black Panther
-Captain Marvel
-Spider-Man: Homecoming
-Captain America: Civil War
-Thor: Ragnarok
-Avengers: Infinity War
The OK Ones
-Doctor Strange
-Avengers: Age of Ultron
-Ant-Man and the Wasp
-Ant-Man
The Bad Ones
-Iron Man 2
-Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
-Thor: The Dark World
-The Incredible Hulk
Broadly I'm alright with this list. I still hold a bit of a soft spot for Hulk but I can see why people don't hold it very high. The only one on here that I see as being completely and utterly out of place is Guardians Vol.2 which is massively too far down.

Yeah, Captain Marvel > Black Panther (IMHO).
I just thought the CM characters were a lot more enjoyable to be around than most of the ones in BP. They're either sullen and mopey, stubborn or an annoying smart arse.
Or suddenly thick to allow plot exposition (*cough Freeman cough*).
I thought Captain Marvel was a really enjoyable character to be around and it brought out the best in everyone she was speaking with.
I look forward to seeing how her character slots into Endgame alongside the remaining heroes.
I really want to see Hulk smash, though.
I still don't know if having Iron Banner was a last minute change (explaining the dodgy CGI) or having Hulk in the trailer was a red herring. Hulk was so underpowered in IW, he needs to get his mojo back.

Hmmm, those Captain Marvel changes are interesting as I didn't see them coming, having read (and enjoyed) Secret War.
I don't see much point ranking these films, they're all enjoyable and worth a watch if you enjoy them. They're always fun and an easy distraction for a couple of hours.
Some people take them too serious.
I loved the Stan Lee tribute at the start and his cameo. Very clever with what was covering his face!
