In 2016 Disney had broken the record yet again for being the highest grossing studio at the box office.
Guess what?
They just did it again and it's only August. The studio is at $7.67bn worldwide with films such as Maleficent II, Frozen II and Star Wars Episode IX still yet to go.

Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw took top spot on opening to the tune of $180m worldwide. Though undoubtedly a smaller opening than the last two blockbuster openings the franchise has seen, the film is well poised to pass all but Fast 7 and 8 on its run.
The Lion King held well against the new competition and is now on $1.195bn
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood also held up, now on $78m from its domestic run
Showing signs of slowing now, Spider-Man: Far From Home moved up to $1.075bn
The same going for Toy Story 4 that hit $959m this week

Thought it was on $2.7bn and Avatar was $2.8bn?

Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw held the top spot in its second weekend though the film still isn't exploding out the gates, now up to $334m worldwide having now outgrossed the original trilogy.
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark opened in the US to $23m against a budget of $25m, viewer ratings weren't amazing but it's a solid opening for the film.
The Lion King became Disney's highest grossing live action non-Marvel/Star Wars film ever made... except it didn't as thanks to the film containing almost zero live action the film looks set to be denied that accolade. None the less it hit an impressive $1.339bn this week. Thanks to its success Disney now own 14/20 of the Top 20 highest grossing films of all time.
Dora and the Lost City of Gold opened to $21m, it has several countries to open in so its fate is still to be set but at a budget of $49m it'll need decent legs
This weekend see's the release of Angry Birds 2 - the highest rated videogame adaption of all time *sigh*

Good Boys took the US top spot this week in a quiet week with $23m.
That left Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw with second place in its third week that saw its earnings rise to $437m worldwide. A figure that is fine but more Slow and Steady than Fast and Furious.
The Lion King held onto its throne, now up to a whopping $1.435bn
47 Meters Down: Uncaged proved to be a wet fish racking up a mere $9m
Whilst Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark rose to $54m worldwide, slow and steady on this one too
This weeks release is the threequel Angel Has Fallen
