We're in it for Wick this weekend and then maybe Godzilla, probably have a gap then till Spider-Man. I hope Wick doesn't suffer to the competition, any room for a Chapter Four should be taken

Just ahead of its fourth weekend:
Avengers: Endgame is now recorded at resting on $2.508bn, that's $280m below the record holding Avatar for title of highest grossing film of all time.
This weekend, “Avengers: Endgame” looks like it might be toppled off its first place at the box-office position with the arrival of “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum”. The third installment of the action franchise is reportedly heading for an opening weekend of around $30-35 million with some predicting it could go up to $40 […]
Thanos isn't the Avengers greatest threat though, it's John Wick. The third Wick entry is on course to have a franchise best opening in the US which will see Endgame dethroned from the top spot.

John Wick: Chapter Three took aim of Thanos and shot him down without blinking. The third entry in the action series absolutely excelled on opening and cruised past the previous two films openings. The film opened to a global haul of $149m. Bear in mind that the original film cost $20m and earned $88m globally by the end of its run. The more successful sequel is said to have cost $40m but closed on a hugely impressive increase of business total of $171m, this means that the third film is just $22m from becoming the most successful entry after just one weekend.
Sequel, A Dog's Journey, opened to $23.5m
Detective Pikachu is trundling along but shows signs that it won't be a big success for the studio given its budget. The film is now up to $205m with a lot of competition inbound making its profitability a question mark.
Avengers: Endgame continues to fall off in attendance sharply but is now on $2.614bn. It's going to be fairly close taking on Avatar and the heavy slate in the next fortnight will help decide how close the film gets.
Aladdin, Brightburn and Secret Life of Pets 2 begin roll outs this week

Aladdin opened to a decent $233m opening take which helps right the live action ship a little for Disney where these films had been starting to slip.
John Wick: Chapter Three slipped to second place as a result but its weekend takings saw it rise to $183m worldwide, very notable as within 10 days of release the film has already become the highest grossing entry in the franchise.
Avengers: Endgame plowed on over the extended weekend, slowed a lot now and looking to have to really fight to take down Avatar as the highest grossing film ever made. The films tally now stands at $2.682bn which is a rise of $70m roughly, the film now standing $106m away from its final accomplishment.
Detective Pikachu has moved more comfortably into profitable territory reaching $356m. Still unsure if this is a franchise starter though.
Brightburn did as horrors do, it cost just $6m to make and opened to just $17m which isn't amazing but makes it an easy money maker
This coming week sees the burning trail of Rocketman enter the field as eyes case themselves lower to see the waters wakes shift as Godzilla: King of Monsters also wades into battle

Godzilla: King of Monsters opened at the top of the box office but its earnings came in soft suggesting the studio may be wise to keep a short outlook on their GCU plans. The film opened to a haul of $179m worldwide
Aladdin held well rising up to $445m worldwide and surpassing Dumbo's tally
Rocketman opened to $56m against a $40m budget so a solid start for the film.
The success story continues to be John Wick: Chapter Three which is now up to $221m worldwide. That's a clear $50m ahead of Chapter Two with the film on track to out earn Ch2 as much as Ch2 out earned Ch1.
Another weekends earnings saw Avengers: Endgame rise its total up to $2.713bn. This now places the film $75m away from Avatar.
This week see's the releases of two big titles said to be at risk of underperforming - The Secret Life of Pets 2 and the near final XCU entry X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Busy tussle this weekend and the reviews for the new releases are making it a lot closer than it should have been:
The Secret Life of Pets 2 is aiming for a $50m+ taking on opening, around half what the first film made suggesting this will do okay but could prove to be the end for the budding franchise
X-Men: Dark Phoenix is aiming for $45-50m on opening in the US which is a low ball for the franchise and there are some early signs that it could even miss that target. The lowest ever grossing XCU movie is the original X-Men movie at $296m.
Aladdin will be looking to bump its earnings, there were some reports yesterday that the film has now passed the $500m mark
Godzilla II: King of the Monsters is now on $190m so will be hoping it can bump that much closer to the ballpark of the other two GCU movies which earned a little over half a billion each.
Avengers: Endgame is running out of time to hit the last goal posts as screens switch to other films. It will be hoping to pick up any slack the bad reviews have created from new releases. The film is officially sitting on $2.720bn before the weekend leaving $68m left to topple Avatar.

The Secret Life of Pets 2 opened to an even more severe loss of business than had been projected, its global opening tallied $97m which is less than half what the original opened to despite having the second widest release of all time.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix also bombed much harder than expected earning a very poor $33m in the US and $140m worldwide. The franchises history suggests the film could struggle to surpass the original X-Men film.
On a lighter note, Aladdin is enjoying a steady climb and is now on $604m
Rocketman is now safely in profit having just reached $101m worldwide
Godzilla II: King of the Monsters is now on $296m worldwide after a second week that showed the studio may yet end up shelving the franchise after next years film if things don't improve. This week the sequel suffered a 67.5% loss in business heavily indicating interest is disappearing fast and the film will fail to fall in line with the other two releases as whilst the first film suffered a hard drop too it opened much stronger.
Avengers: Endgame now sits on $2.730bn worldwide. This time last week it was on $2.713bn so with $58bn left to go it all rests on the legs the film has when Spider-Man hits.
Next weekend see's judgment fall over Men in Black: International

Men in Black: International added itself to a growing list of weak sequels this year opening to $102m worldwide with a dismal $28m being from the US launch. The total is massively behind the rest of the series and it's worth noting that MIB3 was easily the most successful entry. The film opened in most key markets including China so a big improvement seems unlikely out the gate.
The Secret Life of Pets 2 also suffered heavy damage. It rose to $154m worldwide this week with a terrible $8.5m being all it took from all combined international markets, the film being carried by its domestic run. At current rate the film will struggle hard to close its run somewhere between $200m and $250m, that final resting point being a staggering $600m from the $875m the first film earned.
Aladdin continued to prove itself to be a rare success story out of the current crop, the film jumped up by quite a margin to now rest on $724m worldwide
Rocketman now sits on $133m, the film holding well but at no risk of ever being the success last years Queen film was
Continuing the run of box office duds is the latest semi-sequel, Shaft, that combines multiple generations of the character. The film opened in the US with $8m, half the projected opening.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix broke a world record this week, the record for the biggest second week drop for a superhero of all time. The film is now on $204m worldwide so at the very least may at a push be on course to avoid being the series lowest grossing film.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters slowed down hugely also, it's now on $339m worldwide so on course to close well below the previous two films in its canon and somewhere alongside the 1998 Matthew Broderick release.
Back on the success story side, John Wick: Chapter Three is now up to $276m worldwide, a clear $100m past the previous best of the franchise.
And finally, Avengers: Endgame is on $2.742bn worldwide. A steady $12m rise in a week, helped by weak competition. The fight will get harder from here, the film now stands $46m from the top title. From this point in its life onwards Infinity War didn't earn anywhere near that so it'll depend on if Disney gives some form of last push or not.
We should see several films get put out of their misery this week as cinemas worldwide make screen space for a film expected to turn the tide, even if it's once again the mouse house that's doing it, Toy Story 4. Running directly opposite to it in every way is the remake of Child's Play also.

Toy Story 4 opened to a bit of a weird response. It opened lower than expert and studio projections which makes it sound like a failure and yet the film opened to the franchises highest ever opening suggesting unrealistic expectations had been placed on this fourth outing. It's opening take totalled $238m worldwide slightly outpacing the third film that went on to earn a full billion.
The second new opener was the remake of Child's Play that earned surprising decent reviews and opened in the US to $14m. It was produced for $10m so seems set to be profitable even if it's still a bit of a question as to what was gained by rebooting the franchise unless this one finds better feet outside the US, unlikely given the Conjuring Universe entry that's on it's way.
Aladdin is still enjoying strong legs, now striding up to $810m worldwide
Men in Black: International rose to $182m, a steady increase but continuing its franchise low pacing.
The Secret Life of Pets 2 increased to $194m but will likely be on fumes now that Toy Story 4 is taking over screens.
Luc Besson's Anna opened to a weak $3m, seemingly setting the film to be a hard fail
Avengers: Endgame rose to $2.749bn which leaves $39m left to take the title. It'll require a solid push on that rerelease to topple Avatar now.
Godzilla II: King of the Monsters is definitely returning to the ocean having risen just $10m globally in the last week to reach $349m
Likewise, X-Men: Dark Phoenix is collapsing in on itself fast. Now on $232m the film may fail to overtake any in the franchise at the box office.
Also coming to an end is John Wick: Chapter Three at $289m worldwide. The film should just about muster its way past the $300m marker, the difference is that for Wick that is a phenomenal accomplishment.
This coming weekend see's the release of Yesterday and the third in the spin-off arm of The Conjuring, Annabelle Comes Home
