I find the WB animation cancellations odd mostly because the wording is so vague. WB owns or is involved with numerous networks so it's odd to see production continue but them be referred to as cancelled when some would potentially have very obvious homes.
The obvious one to me is The Amazing World of Gumball. It aired for six seasons on Cartoon Network then after a couple of years they announced a TV Movie which would wrap up the storyline and launch a relaunch of the show in series format. That's been in production for at least 18 months and then they announce it's been cancelled for HBO Max and will be shopped around... but again, it would have ended up on Cartoon Network primarily post-debut so why wouldn't that still be the case? New shows are harder to rehome but something like that would surely mean just the HBO Max debut has been cancelled, rather than all that work shelved for zero reason when the network it was primarily made for is sitting right there? Like, who else would you shop it to?
