Its really good, but the script is a bit of a mixed bag. It can have some great scenes followed by a scene with some clunky writing.

Finished The Last Dance this morning. Really enjoyed it. Thank goodness for Netflix. Regular tv is rather poor atm ... though I am enjoying Kermode and Mayo's Home Entertainment Service. The chemistry between those two along with the pacy format works brilliantly. Hope it sticks around for time to come.

The Office: Season 01
Yet another rewatch, the first run is still solid but weaker than the many that followed when the show broke free of the UK versions contraints.

The Simpsons: Season 30
Took a while of picking at it but the great multi-year work through of every season of the show finally saw the thirtieth completed. Overall a very meh run, nothing that great during it.

Louis Theroux: Porn
So odd that it was way back in 1997 that this aired. I've seen this one before but it was still a depressing showcase for the reality of the broken mindsets working in the industry.

Louis Theroux: Gambling in Vegas
Apt that we watched it thinking we'd get a nostalgic look back at Vegas but it barely left the one casino interior exactly like the subjects in the documentary who just can't recognise their own addictions.

To continue with my Western phase after Longmire finished, I'm now happily into Justified, which I am really enjoying. Love the gunslinger vibe, the main dude does it really well.

The Office: Season 02
I always forget how quickly in the shows overall run that Jim and Pam happened as S2 lines them up ready to get together in the next run. The second run, probably about halfway through begins to drop those nuggets about Michael as well that start to make him more of a sympathetic character despite how awful he can be which is immediately where this version begins to elevate itself above the UK version.

Louis Theroux: Twilight of the Porn Stars
15 years later than the original episode, we're now 8 years on from this so it'd be interesting in time to see Louis return to this subject again as it was very interesting to follow up on everyone featured. Once again it utterly demystified the image of the industry and painted many a sympathetic character of the actors involved, much less so those running the businesses.

Killing Eve: Season 03
It was an entertaining season, plenty advancement of Vilinnelle, but the ending landed like a wet fart. Hopefully it was simply regearing itself but they really failed to stick the landing on this seasons arc.

I've always been careful about forcing my tastes onto my kids but looking for something we can watch as a family we thought we'd introduce them to Northern Exposure. It was one of my fave shows of the 90s and going back it's lost none of it's charm. The boys were into it pretty quickly for the scenery and location alone ... but the good stuff seeps in in no time and they seemed to enjoy it. The show has a unique feel and it's a great one to go back to.

Just starting the third season of Midnight Diner on Netflix, a Japanese series largely set in a diner around midnight. Ten episodes per series, with a different story each episode, a recurring cast and an enigmatic chef. They're sentimental, soppy, short (around 20 mins), and I've loved every minute of them. I don't think they'll be to everyone's taste, though.

Mate, I think I might have one or two sealed full seasons on DVD, Morrisons were doing them for £4.99 back in March 2007 (don't know why I remember that but I do).

Yeah, I got Season 1 of KOJAK, Season 1 of ROSEANNE, Season 1 & 2 of LAS VEGAS, Season 2 of MONK and one or two seasons of this.

Anyway, I'm getting rid of stuff at the mo so you can have it if you want it, I only bought it at the time cos it was cheap, I never actually watched it in the 90s so have no nostalgia towards it. Yeah, just let us know mate, would rather give it to someone who'd want it.

I watched all of The Singing Detective this week. When it originally aired I probably tuned in to see the cheeky scenes but also probably tuned out very quickly, being too young and immature for the show. FF all these years later and I read an article about how the show fits the current trend of deep and daring storytelling in tv, and of boxsets and binge watching ... so I thought I'd dive in. I knew it was a heavy piece of work but I also fancied watching something with bite. Quite simply it's a work of genius. Utterly brilliant. Way ahead of its time; clever, complex, daring and challenging ... it an affecting watch ... but sometimes it feels good when something artistic forces you out of the comfort zone. No wonder it caused a stir in 86 or whenever it was ...

All the old Dennis Potter BBC plays/series are worth watching/revisiting: Pennies From Heaven and Blue Remembered Hills in particular.

I remember that old TV censorship campaigner Mary Whitehouse getting worked up about The Singing Detective particular the Joanne Whalley (Kilmer) nurse 'lubrication' scene with Michael Gambon.
