first 2 episodes of Slow Horses. Wow. If the quality keeps up this will be something very special indeed. Oldman is pretty bloody good.

      The Grand Tour: Eurocrash
There's some goodness in this special but the running gag of having May be the worst off and so far behind means most of this special lacks the group dynamic of prior entries.

Been motoring through Alice in Borderland, just now starting the second season. It's another spin on the 'death game' idea, which clearly I'm a sucker for, as for a Netflix-produced live action adaptation of a manga I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying it.

Fringe S1E1. Best series I ever watched and excited to be watching a second time

Finished Alice in Borderland now, and generally speaking, enjoyed it. It's a very good-looking show with some really impressive effects and sets, but at the same time it stumbles into cliches quite regularly and sets itself up with mystery upon mystery for an inevitably quite clumsy finale. Worth a watch, though!

Watched a lot (read: all) of Catastrophe in a very short space of time too. I think Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan are both very funny individually, and it turns out that putting them together in a writing room and then on camera only amplifies this. Putting aside the frequency of gags, the chemistry between them works as it's intended, with the wild swings between good and bad, high and low, crass and poignant, and so on all being somewhat relatable, even though regularly pushed further outside typical comfort levels for comic effect. Probably good to have stopped it where they did, and with a slightly out of character end, but still - fun show.

I blasted through S1 of Jack Ryan and convinced the missus to try S2 with me, which we have a couple of episodes left. (I'll get her to watch S1 afterwards as it's worth watching and there are only a handful of callbacks.)

We've tried again and finally got into Parks & Recreation. It's perfect for us as we like a short, swear-free comedy on the days we don't eat with the kids.

I tried watching Jack Ryan and my daughter walked in and I did some ninja-level pausing literally as a character was saying "Motherfu...".

                Picard season 3.

Absolutely loved it. It hit all the right notes for me. I didn’t bother to watch the first two seasons, and it didn’t really matter.

The story was decent and had some wonderful callbacks to a lot of the TNG and DS9 output. Amanda Plummer was fantastic as the primary villain. I enjoyed the pacing, the constant feeling of a crew on the run, and the last couple of episodes were excellent for people like me who consumed all things Trek in the 90s. I didn’t think All Good Things could be topped as an ending, but this perhaps managed it.

Dammit, though, it’s made me want more, and mourning the lost years between Nemesis and this.

Yes, you made the right call here. Season 3 is wonderful on its own. A great wrap up for the Next Gen.

I was thinking of watching this again too. Walter is one of the best characters ever.

Yeah I was saying that. Wild and nuts sometimes and tender at other moments. Very likeable

We have just finished Rian Johnsons new series Poker face on sky via peacock. Its a great throw back to the 70s murder of the week format, emulating shows like Quincy, Murder she wrote but mainly it comes across as a love letter to Columbo.

The show follows Charlie an ex poker hustler with a really unique gift in that she has the ability to instantly tell if someone is lying. After the murder of a good friend at the casino she works at charlie starts to piece things together to solve the murder. Like a modern day Columbo you see the set up and know who the murder is from the start but the joy in this is seeing Charlie piece it all together and bring that person to justice. The first episode sets charlie on a road trip across America on the run from a Casino owner shes wronged and it dose a great job of making each episode fun and unique. It's a short run at only 10 episodes but well worth a watch if you like a good murder mystery show that's also pretty funny.

Watched Season 2 of One Punch Man. Different animation studio and not a patch on the first series. Story pacing was terribly slow and the animation was cheap-looking, the ostensibly iconic fights being particularly dull and full of shortcuts and repetition. Genuinely boring, all in all.

Finally got the missus through a second series, Meltdown seemed to be the one she liked best

                            The Flight Attendant: Season 02
There's some decent stuff in here but it feels like broadly the plaudits it's had aren't particularly well earned. It's plotting is utter guffins and Cuoco's alchoholism storyline and acting pretty much solely carries what is a terrible spy mystery.

Seen two of the three episodes on iPlayer and they are very good with some excellent tunes thrown in.

                              Great quote from Martina on how women players were supposed to be demure and blend in;
                              "**** that".

Normally I never need or want to watch the previous seasons of a show before the next one kicks off, but I willingly agreed to dive in to The Bear season one again before starting season two. I’ll stand by what I said about it after first viewing, absolutely brilliant TV. Couple more episodes to knock off tomorrow, then we’ll dive in to the new stuff. Can’t wait.
