I'll have a think, but while you're waiting, this really made me laugh:

As much as I think Taxi Driver and Rocky are great films I’m going to choose Assault on Precinct 13. It one of my favourite John Carpenter films. It’s a low budget affair but it doesn’t seem to harm the film at all. Great score, builds tension well and features a strong female lead which was unusual at the time.

This is one of those years where I recognise the names of multiple films but haven't actually seen most of them meaning there wasn't much I could vote for. My top pick would be easy anyway, Rocky is just sublime.

          Some quality films this year.

Carrie I came to very late and only saw it for the first time recently. Amazing, bold adaptation. Assault On Precinct 13 is a given, love John Carpenter. Rocky, iconic film, tons of heart. Logan's Run is an interesting one. I saw it as a kid and the imagery (carousel) stayed in my head for tears.

But Taxi Driver takes my vote as an ultimate fave. Probably in my all time top five ... okay, maybe top ten It's like a super-group of a film, all in perfect harmony. Wonderful snapshot of an edgier New York too. You can smell the grimy hot summer nights.

It's a masterpiece of cinematography (and one of the best soundtracks of all time).
