As great as Across the Spider-verse was, I think making it half a film was a mistake.

Into the Spider-Verse
Across the Spider-Verse
Beyond the Spider-Verse
If you weren't aware going in, and the closeness to the end that you realise there's a cliffhanger coming, you'd be allowed to feel a bit miffed. And now there's an indefinite delay for the third film. Boo!!!

And as per usual, Neon is going OTT. Across had a perfectly fine ending that is totally in keeping with the story and sets up the finale of Beyond perfectly.
If Across could be criticised then it felt like the animation quality wasn't as high as it was in Into. Still an enjoyable film overall though - completely discarding the established "With Great Power..." Spiderman genesis trope and going absolutely nuts with it has been a breath of fresh-air.Last edited by Nu-Eclipse; 01-08-2023, 10:33.

"the ending of the film let's it down" - OTT statement of 2023
Like the prior discussion with DT when the film released, it would havce served the film better to end around 15 minutes sooner before it closes on a less interesting plot development and before it over signposts how Beyond will resolve everything. It's all gold outside of that one wrinkle though

Given the multiverse is literally at the heart of the storyline, I'm not sure how the ending is in any way uninteresting, but that's just me.
Please... let's see you make one and show us all how it's done.
Deffo not OTT though.Last edited by Nu-Eclipse; 01-08-2023, 13:32.
