I'm going to take a side step to avoid LOTR and go for Legally Blonde.
I usually hate girly films but after finally 'getting' Clueless for its comedy (which my sister forced me to watch over and over as a kid which I hated) I took a punt with this and LOVED it. I still love this film and found myself quoting it a lot with a friend I made that year when I started college.

Why not LOTR, I love those films!? I was on a date to see it with a guy who I knew though out the relationship was not going to last. Nice guy but not right for me, was someone I knew from my music club but he was very sensitive, terrified half the time to even talk to me (he was a year younger) and his parents were SUPER creepy the 2 times I visited his house. It took me years to see the film again as non of my family were interested in it and I associate seeing the film with that date. Can watch it no problem in Extended addition though.
