    James Bond 26

While “No Time to Die” still hasn’t hit cinemas yet, the franchise’s star Daniel Craig has already left the role of James Bond and moved onto other things. With his exit, the franchise now stands at something of a crossroads – especially with Bond’s co-owner MGM in the midst of being bought by Amazon. Where […]

Eyes are already beginning to turn to the horizon and whilst nothing is set for the next Bond film as yet, the franchise producers have said that they'll begin in earnest once No Time to Die finally makes release. They've also ruled out any Bond content for TV as well whilst Martin Campbell, director of Goldeneye and Casino Royale, has said he'd happily step back into the chair for the next refresh of the franchise.

Odeon are to start showing every Bond film, one per week, starting with Dr No. The showings tie in with the franchises 60th anniversary. I'll be keeping an eye on this for some entries, many don't really warrant the big screen and going for one fixed time for 25 weeks is a big ask. In for Brosnan though.

Cool. Wish something like that would happen here. I'd love to see a few of the Rodger Moore movies on the big screen and sure, Living Daylights as well.

Next Bond film will be ‘complete reinvention’ but won’t shoot for ‘at least two years’ | Film | The Guardian
It will be at least 2025 before the next Bond film hits cinemas and it will be another complete reworking of the property. Broccoli says that no script exists as they haven't decided on a direction for the franchise yet and so without that settled on casting isn't even a consideration.

I'd kill it off for a while and then reinvent it based on what cinema looks like in 10 years.

Next Bond Film Plans "Haven't Even Begun" - Dark Horizons
Two years on and the next Bond film is nowhere near closer to the big screen. The only confirmation coming forward is that the new incarnation will remain set in the present day and will seek to establish Bond within the framework of how would such a character fit into the modern world.

So, errr.... I thought all bond films were set in the modern day time frame the were made. Am I missing something that the makers of bond expected me to know?

There seemed to have been rumours that they were considering returning to a 60's setting to mark this out as different. That being said, Bond rumours can never be trusted anyway

Ah, I see. In that case the statement makes sense now. Thought was missing something so obvious for a moment.

Bad news in my eyes I love the idea of a 50s setting for Bond (and I reckon Nolan would nail it and maybe we'd get Sir Michael come out of retirement as a cockney M "Bond, you're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off"

I've still never seen a Nolan film that has made me feel he could do a good job of it. Far too cold and clinical a style even for Bond
