Way of the Dragon has such amazing fight scenes, it's easy to forget about all the slapstick that precedes it.

The whole bit with the prostitute and eating with no money are a bit clunky to get through.

Once the action starts, it's ace. That back alley scene with the over-confident thugs being taught what nunchaku are in a violent demonstration, all the way up to the Colosseum fight are exceptional and Lee really was mesmerising.

      Annabelle Comes Home
The one that ties off the prequel trilogy, more of a Conjuring 1.5, it's a bit like the previous film in that it isn't scary but it has enough going on to keep you engaged

Wimp talk. Chimpy can’t handle his wads.

          Maleficent Mistress of Evil.

My main thought was that the castle is unfeasibly tall. Like Burj Khalifa tall. But there aren't any lifts.

Sicario - Been a while since I watched it. Never gets old, great movie. Acting from everyone is absolutely top level but damn Benicio. What a performance and what a final line "You are not a wolf and this is the land of wolves now".

              The Wolverine
Enjoyed it but it's a bit overlong considering how little action there is in it which can lead to pretty long stretches where it feels a bit flat, especially with the naff and pointless romance bit in the middle.

Yeah this is a cool film. When I watched it I felt that the POV nightvision segment was very Call of Duty inspired.

Sicario is brilliant. One of the best 4K discs ever too. The soundtrack when they're heading into Juarez (The Beast) is so good.

^ yep cinematography was ace. A well deserved academy award nomination. The scene where they walk down into the tunnel in front of the sunset, absolutely killer. Yeah the POV stuff was sick.

I remember the original being a lot ruder in humour than it is, there's not actually much that is that saucy bar the one joke. It is however... very dated when it comes to the humours targets. Plus - Bobcat isn't in it yet.

Just edited my post above with The Beast scene ... so good. Need a rewatch v/soon.

In the meantime I watched The Texas Chainsaw Massacre pt 2. Arriving in the mid 80s, more than 10 years after the original, most of the Sawyer family are still kicking about. When they menace a couple of jocks who happen to be on call with a local radio phone-in, a moyder is accidentally caught on tape. Cue the radio host and Dennis Hopper (playing a relative of Sally from film 1) going after them. It starts well. I quite enjoyed the first half ... then it just decends into daftness. It actually reminded me of a Rob Zombie film. For me that's not a good thing, I'm not a big fan. Hooper couldn't possibly have recreated the lightning in a bottle that was the first film, but it could have been a lot better. On the plus side there's a doozey of a jump scare in it

Nuts that in several years time the time gap between this and Titanic will be the same as Titanic and present day. Cutting quickly into the sinking itself, the film holds up incredibly well thanks to attention to detail and never milking moments, instead keeping things as straight forward and accurate as was possible at the time.

Definitely agree. It's one of the best implementations of HDR I've ever seen.

A.W.O.L: Absent Without Leave - cheeseball JCVD. One of his best.

Always a guilty pleasure where "The Muscles from Brussels" is concerned!

Funnily enough, I've got a more recent film of his on my watchlist that I'm due to watch soon.
