    Hollywood Hot Wheels: Round 15

    WELCOME TO:

    HOLLYWOOD HOT WHEELS: ROUND 14

We continue going through the history of the industries most recognisable vehicles covering all manners of iconic designs from film, tv and gaming, their history and what you think of them.

Each round will see three vehicles lined up for the showcase. Unlike the voting conducted in the other threads, here things are more cutthroat.

You each can only vote for a single design in each round, casting the other two to the scrapheap of Hollywood history.
Make your choice then tell us why you like or don't like each vehicle and why you voted for the one you did.

    VEHICLE 43 - DMC Delorean

Think Back to the Future, think time travelling DeLorean. The 1985 car was modified extensively yet retained its instantaneously recognisable form for the trilogy. Rear vents, Flux Capacitor, trailing flames and occasional ability to fly, the car isn't actually on screen for much of the films runtime but makes the most of every minute it is. The main car was placed in Universal Studios as an attraction once filming ended but after years of fans stealing parts off it Bob Gale removed it and had it restored with it now residing in an LA car museum. The stunt car was the one hit by a train in the final film and after several years in a heap its parts were incorporated into several replicas that were made. The interior car was mostly pulled apart for filming but eventually was largely put back together and is now at Universal Studios Japan.

A Timeless Classic or When This Baby Rocks Up, Do You See Some Serious ****?

    VEHICLE 44 - Mirthmobile

The Wayne's World AMC Pacer, its biggest modification is a licorice dispenser. Most famous for the scene where Wayne and Garth headbang to Bohemian Rhapsody, it was a moment that made the vehicle famous. The car has since passed from private owner to private owner

    Make you go Chwiiing?

    VEHICLE 45 -
    Wrangler Jeep

A fleet of Wrangler Jeeps were used by the staff of Jurassic Park to get around the island as the Explorers were on rail attraction vehicles only. Themed in sand and red colouring, they came packed with essentials such as torch lights and night vision goggles. The Jeep in real life is actually one of the least valuable Wrangler's produced which has made it very easy for fans to spend a very small amount of money to turn them into replica's.

Bloody hell, this isn't even a contest. Out of all the bog standard versions of those cars the DeLorean wins. Add all the Back to the Future gubbins and it's lightyears ahead, literally

The AMC Pacer is well, crap. Wayne's World is cool though. As for the Wrangler Jeep, well..... Yeah, it's just a jeep.

      This is a no brainer.

Yep, a very easy choice for me. With the JP Jeep I've always been curious about how much it's used for merchandise, it never stood out to me in the original films.

I once banged my knee climbing into a DeLorean, it's a very low seated car to get into and relatively tight if you're rushing which paints the films shots with Marty diving in and out a little differently. It's easy to imagine Michael J Fox took a few knocks filming those shots. If I could I'd 100% own one and it remains a travesty that gull wing doors have barely been used.

I've only ever seen a real DeLorean once and that was here in Japan. Of course, I've seen the one at Universal Studio before the ride was cheaply converted in to a minion's ride. But that doesn't count as its a model. Yeah, life size and all but it wasn't driving down the street.

Around 15 years ago someone who must have lived near us had a stock one that I would see on a rare occasion. I still like the car even in its default form

We clocked one in the rear-view last year on the A19. Such a cool car 😎

Even though the DeLorean is a crusty old car it still looks cool even now. If the chance came up to buy one for a good price, I'd get it for sure.
The fact that it's slow, only really seats 2 people and impractical when needing to winde down the window wouldn't bother me. It's a true classic in ever sense.

I just looked at the specs, and...damn. 130hp and only 153lb-ft of torque, for a 2.8l v6 That thing must guzzle fuel.
My Astra GTC is 1.7l, 130hp remapped to 180, and pushing just over 300lbs-ft of torque, it would smoke the Delorean, and it's a diesel
If I had the option though, I would still pick the Delorean.

Yeah, the DeLorean is a **** car for performance, no questioning that. Still, a Engine swap is always possible

                      Easiest one yet.

Wayne's car is cool, with a decent stereo and plenty of room for enough people to sing harmonies and that strawberry lace dispenser is a game-changer, but it's not got a chance here.

There's a JP Jeep photo op in Universal Studios Islands of Adventure, but it couldn't even keep Ned on the road in a storm, So even that winch ain't gonna save it from the chop here.

I mean, obviously it's the DeLorean.
It's easily one of the best and most memorable movie cars ever, it looks amazing, can fly and travel through time!

There are a couple of DeLoreans in Florida.
Obviously Dzerland had one and also had some unmodified versions just hanging around.

Of course Universal Studios had one near the site of the BttF ride (now The Simpsons), alongside the train.
They moved it, as it used to be nearer the entrance.
I went at Christmas one year and we were in the park early and "Doc Brown" and "Marty" were just hanging around it for photo ops, so we had the actors and car to ourselves for a bit. For years, my Facebook profile was the three of us looking at our watches like the poster.
Last year, I updated the photo with me and my kids that we had since we last went! We're all looking at our watches!

To be fair, it's a good looking car in its own right. I finally saw one in the flesh/aluminium at the Coventry Motor Museum and it still looks sleek now. I particularly like the fins on the back windscreen that you don't see too often as it's normally covered by a Mr. Fusion.
I went to car show as a teen/early twenties and one was on sale. I was really tempted to get it because how cool would it to be to say your first car was a DeLorean?!

It's the only movie car where I've been able to briefly sit one. I banged my leg getting it It's fairly cramped to swing your legs into and low down

I'd still own one in a heart beat though
