For comedy I'd say School Rumble, Azumanga Daioh, Yakitate Japan and 2x2 = Shinobuden and you could include Honey and Clover and Genshiken in this category from the above list.

Personally I'd recommend Seed over Seed Destiny as I just found it to be better than Destiny which was too samey for me and had one of the most irritating hero type characters I've come across.

From the new season I'd recommend Shakugan No Shana, Noein, Black Cat, Paradise Kiss, Ginban Kaleidoscope, Mai Otome(as discussed above the first series Mai Hime seems to be worth a watch as well). There's definitely a few I'm forgetting as well. No doubt someone else will probably mention those.

Cheers for the link Buster, care to give a brief description of Black Cat.

from what i've read here its been adapted from a japanese comic book - but its been toned down seriously in the violence department, still good thou

its about a guy called Train Heartnet who is the black cat aka XIII (13) who is an eraser (assassin) working for a group called Chronos

the other main character is called Sven Volfied who is a sweeper, they seem to be bounty hunters but by the code they cannot kill anybody

6 episodes are now available and its well animated, usual funnies and has quite a gripping story

now Sven has taken a young girl into his care who is a living weapon and black cat has left Chronos, but is now getting chased by them as nobody leaves and he is also being pursued by a fellow assassin so he can join his group and finally defeat Chronos

things like Naruto are pretty good but i hate 'filler episodes' - right now its upto about the 160+ episodes

whereas the stuff i listed only lasts for about 24 episodes except alchemist which is 51

if i had to suggest 1 anime it would be full metal alchemist - just gripping in every way and now the movie is available as well (curse of shambala or something)

Samurai 7 is a very close 2nd

if you like hip hop - champloo is brilliant

, Sluty Sia for the Win! /Joke still it made me want to stop hating Sia anyway with her being a proper nutjob. I think it pretty much decided Asa gonna get the Win which im very happy about as they seem to make the best couple but some spanner from a monkey somewhere is gonna have screw something up for Rin or we won't have a show for next 6-8eps. All thats left now is Kaede to give up as it seems Nerine and Sai have blown their load(so to say) and come up short. Back to form, from the dodgy Rim ep's, Yea Shuffle!

So I can't go wrong with Full Metal Alchemist. I'll try that and Samurai 7. You can't go much wrong with an anime based on Kurosawa's timeless classic.

I'm interested in Samurai Champloo aswell though a little unsure regarding the hip hop element.

Heh the only thing really hip-hop ish with Samurai Champloo is the intro music...which I watched once and then just skipped it for the rest of the series, god that has to be the worst intro music ever!

imo champloo is a million times better than samurai 7.
although i agree, the intro music on champloo is the worst thing ever, but the rest of it is excellent.
samurai 7 is just quite tedious i thought...not even a hint of the genius of kurosaw's movie.

Ach thanks Tobal, completely forgot about Zero, btw did they ever finish that? I think i've only seen like 3 episodes and then forgot about it because there was such a large gap between episodes.

Yes, they did. And it's absolutely amazing, from a purely visual standpoint. Overall, though, Macross Plus remains my favorite.

Pretty sure he isn't. If he is then credit to that voice actor, as I can't hear any similarity between Train's voice and Athrun's. In fact the thought didn't even cross my mind until you mentioned it. And I'm usually pretty good at recognizing similar voices if I do say so myself.

edit: quick search on animenewsnetwork reveals that Athrun's voice actor is Akira Ishida and Train's is Takashi Kondo

As Cat says they did finish it, i thought it was better than Plus, mainly because the history of watching the Valkyrie first steps and it being in a actual warzone so plenty more(and better) dogfights be found, its prettier to and it has ROY!

I love it. I'm not the biggest hip hop fan, but it's a great song, and suits the show well. The rest of the show doesn't feature much hip-hop, it's all about the story, but the graffiti episode is a bit... weird.
