Clannad ep 20 - absolutely loved that. As someone elsewhere said it was feel good stuff at its finest.

As a fan I almost died of cuteness overload from the two of them during certain parts of the episode. Sunohara showing another side to him and unusually not being in it for the comedy alone. I liked some of Nagisa's dad's slip ups as well. Particularly the one during the basketball game which as I mentioned gave me a near death experience of my own . I can't say Nagisa's back story was particularly brilliant but I guess I'll wait and see if there's any more of it to be delved into.

I know some people won't like it and that they're pinning their hopes on Nagisa's arc being good to redeem the show in their eyes, but whatever. Other than one or two pacing issues in the series I can't say I've been disappointed with the choices they've made so far.

As ever the episodes seem to fly by for me.

Well the past was totally not as bad as I thought. However, it does leave me wondering where the hell it's all going. Still enjoyable stuff though,

Fuuko's zombie was superb as well as Sunohara's lap round the school

It was a good episode and while Nagisa past wasn't anything special it was good enough to get across why the family is the way it is and make her a more lovable character. The baseball bit at the end was totally fantastic, as was Sage Suno

At complete ends of the anime spectrum; I've been really enjoying Spice & Wolf and Rosario to Vampire.

One is complete fluff with loads of bouncy boobs and then some violence towards the end of each episode whilst the other is a fair bit slower in terms of pace but gives me a really warm feeling due to the relationship between the two main characters.

Can you guess which is which?

Also, when I was in Japan I kept seeing cuddly toys for these weird "things" that looked a bit like suns but it different colours. Upon my return to the UK I found out they are actually bacteria from a series called Moyashimon.

Managed to ge the first 6 of that and it seems to be pretty good. I'm having a probelm with the subtitles on the final 5 episodes though (as in I'm not getting any displayed).

They are .mkv instead of .avi but every setting I've tried in Zoom / Media Player Classic / VLC / name a player has yielded no results. Any suggestions?

They're probably softsubbed. Open the file in VLC, then once it starts playing, in the "Video" menu, there should be a "Subtitles track" option. Use it.

If the option remains greyed out, it probably means there are no subtitles at all -- VLC's "information" window will tell you that in its "advanced" tab. A softsubbed file has at least 3 streams: one for the video, one for the sound, one for the subs. If there are only 2 (video and sound) and you see no hardsubs, that means you've downloaded raws.

^Thanks for the info. The subtitle option is greyed out in Media Classic and Zoom but in VLC it says "Subtitles: S (unspecified language)". Bit odd really.

                    cheers pal

If it's the BSS subs of Moyashimon, it could be you don't have the right codecs for them. I found that with a couple of their releases, I needed the latest set of CCCP codecs to play them.

^Nah, I had 1 - 6 of BSS Moyashimon and they all worked fine as hey were hardcoded .avi files. It's the kiki delivers DiVX .mkv that I'm having the problem with. No worries now though as I seem to have found the rest of the BSS subs version so hopefully I'll have that finished by this afternoon.

                        Aah, ickle bacteria

                        Thanks for your suggestions

Just as an aside. I wouldn't recommend VLC for viewing softsubbed files. Unless things have changed in the most recent version it doesn't handle the softsubs properly which can lead to all sorts of problems. Whilst getting the softsubbed files up and running in another player (I use Media Player Classic but Zoomplayer is also good) might take a bit of effort and faffing about, I think it's the best way to go. You can just get CCCP and that should do everything for you in a nice easy package. Alternatively you can just get the individual bits yourself and cofigure them. The good thing about CCCP is that you can get help from their site/IRC channel relatively quickly. On the rare pccasion I've had a problem with a file they've usually been able to sort it.

yeah vlc isnt too hot when it comes to soft subs, they often tend to overlap if there more than 1 set of subs on screen at once (like 2 different conversations, etc), like zapp$ter said get cccp and use Media Player Classic

MPC can do the thing to select audio tracks / sub tracks like you mentioned in VLC, just right click in the video window then go to filters, then the bottom option which should be the directory of the file (eg: C:/Anime/...) click that and itl open a sub menu with all the video/audio/sub tracks, useful for turning subs off (if there softsubbed) for when your taking screenshots, otherwise you have to track down raws

                            handy screenshot to demonstrate:

the only thing i would recommend getting aswell as cccp is CoreAVC (Pro is preferable) to handle your h264 High Def stuff, runs things abit smoother than the default fdshow codec that cccp comes with

Around up of what i've been watching

Aria O ep3 - Alice ep again(not a bad thing at all) and some nice emotion'y bits from the emotionless one . had some well animated bits in this episode with some of the direction cuts looking very different for the usual Aria stuff... i can't explain it but it noticable in this episode compared to everything else.

True Tears ep10 - EH!! well im lost, just what the heck is going on...

Hiromi looked clear winner but her last words to Shin made it looked like she was just clinging on to him to get some kind of happiness back after her parents died, so she might not be in love with him? And noe.. poor Noe only chance is going to be if the former turns out to be true or she puts on an 'A' game to get Shin back, at least winner is still up in the air even if Ai backed out.

H20 ep10 - Grampa strikes back as the stupid drama continues, not sure why im still watching this but its getting deleted as soon as the final eps done.

                              KimiKissPR ep22 -

noooo Futami don't give in to Sakino wimpering about, its her own dam fault she didn't get there first. So it's still secondary love triangle story > primary, Hoshino to boring and Kouichi a wimp and a dick to Hoshino. Mao needs to dump the lot of them as i can't see what the monkies she see's in Kouichi other than that damned book.

Bambo Blade ep 19-22 - Good stuff, especially the Brave Brave eps and Tama's rival. 4 eps left to save Kojiro's job, a MiyaMiya win, Tama's comeback and the boys uniting... do i smell rush job or we getting another season?

                              Shana ep 21 -

Big fight over and with brains and tactics for once instead of fire power(although that was need to), animation through the last couple of episodes has been insane and this episode managed to even top that, sadly it looks like we're back to teen-drama for ep22

                              Comment

Shana 21: Just what this series has been lacking and then some. Although, as you say,

shame they're going back to teen drama. Mind you from the preview, it looks like it's entering the final stages of it. Plus, I have a feeling 2 things will happen in the last few eps; The glasses boy who wants Yoshida will also do something similar as the 2 girls and confess, since the first op showed a scene of something similar and Yoshida will either snuff it or become some kind of lol-being to help Yuji and Shana. I for one am secretly hoping for the former to finally remove her once and for all.

Think they'll get a 3rd season out of this?
