New and current FS anime Topic

Mr "I'am GUNDAM", always makes me laugh. He gets better as character as the show goes on, if you read any of my earlier posts on 00 you'll find i was routing for the UN, China and America over CB 99% of the time. Watch the show for the "baddies" as there way better characters than the CB lineup but they themselves get better as characters when Thrones turn up and they get brought back down to earth with a heathly dose of asswhooping when they're God Mechs are out done by superior tactics and skills of the National Aces(Graham,Ali,China-Loli+ChinaGAR).

My main gripe was besides Lockon,Lockon,Lockon shooting and Alluah when he goes bonkers they all suck at piloting and rely on there Gundams to cover there asses, but as i've said it becomes there undoing and very enjoyable as a result.

apart from Gurren-Lagann what other mecha anime is worth watching (apart from your standard gundam/macross/eva stuff)

Gunbuster and Diebuster. Both well worth the time and effort if you've not seen them. (Gunbuster must go first though. Diebuster has a better impact when watched after it)

Other than that, I'd be interested for some ideas too. Can't really think of many mech shows that have wowed me.

Not watched many Super Robot stuff like GGG

Gunbuster/Aim for the top - epic stuff from the TTLG people
DieBuster/Aim for the Top 2(GB2) - same
Godannar - Decent Super Robot stuff with many of the pilots ending up dead.
Full Metal Panic - Comedy/Romance, with serious mecha action now and the
GunXSword - same as above
Eva(reborn) - emo/world ending
Fafnir - mega emo/ending
Rahxephon - emo/ending
Stellvia - Space Cadets vs Space
Vandread - Men vs Women vs evil, space adventure/comedy/romance
Gun Parade - Army Cadets, almost Aria like but with Monster than Pwn them

You should watch G Gundam, i know its a gundam but its far from a standard gundam show. Its more super robot show (lots of hot blooded shouting n stuff, like Gurren Lagann, GaoGaiGar etc) rather than the standard beam spam Real Robot affair that the other Gundam Shows are, its 49 eps i think and is abit slow to start but its well worth it as gets better and better as it progresses.

Other good mech series of the top of my head are:
-Rahxephon, dont do what everyone else does and try to compare it to eva -GaoGaiGar, the first set of enemy of the week episodes are pretty duff, but get past that and it is up there with Gurren Lagann etc for epic Super Robot action
-Martian Successor Nadesico, its abit of a paraody of mech shows in general but still a great show
-Overman King Gainer, the OP is brilliant, and the shows not bad overall
-Vandread's not bad aswell from what i rember of it.

man these things are getting more detailed with every one, now their showing air dates too. Anyways didnt realise shigofumi was getting an ova, enjoyed the series so ill be checking that out. Cant wait for the new Jigoku Shoujo series, i know alot of people dont really like it but i love it for some reason. Also looking forward to Casshern and Tytania, both of which, going from promos and stuff, are set to be great. Oh another surprise, wasnt aware Today in Class 5-2 was getting a series, the OVA was great so ill be keeping an eye out for that too. Gundam 00 and Clannad after story will be certs, along with the new Ef series, and more than likely R&V series 2 purely for the fact i watched the first.

no doubt that list will double by the time the seasons underway. Overall tho its looking like a pretty decent season.

Oh another surprise, wasnt aware Today in Class 5-2 was getting a series, the OVA was great so ill be keeping an eye out for that too.

The only downside being that they have completely replaced all the voice actors so no Mamiko Noto, Kana Ueda or Chihara Minori. Bit sad really but hopefully it'll still be good. Odd how they're going to make a series out of it when the original manga version was only two volumes long. Ho hum.


Lots of interesting new stuff though this season which is nice; 26 items from just the tv series list alone are now on my "plan to watch" list.

Yozakura Quartet, Kurozuka and Alive are all unknown surprises for me and look quite interesting. Kannagi hasn't really grabbed me from the little manga released but I've been hearing good things about it's quality so it may be worth a look.
Ga-rei I'm hopeful for. The authour admits he did get some inspiration from Bleach but what I've read so far has been fairly consistent rather than Bleach's storywander-fest. And of course Toradora; More Rie tsundere goodness which I pray can live up to the expectations of it's manga and novel counterparts.

Sometimes it's a curse that I have such low standards that I can look at an awful show and still enjoy it.

Edit: Oooh! New Eve no Jikan on the 1st! First ep was really impressive; hopefully the next ep can be just as good.

Edit 2: Also, now taking bets on whether Sunrise can sucessfully mess up Gundam 00's second series as well. Recap within the first 3 episodes no doubt!

Chaos Head is really bizarre. I've been trying to get my manga group to do it as one of our projects but everyone seems to be ignoring me. Inazuma Eleven might be fun but I'll need to get and play the game first to understand it.

Big stuffs just about to happen, plus for the same reason i rarely talk about Bleach or Naruto is most of us are reading the manga which is well ahead. I like that they remembered the animes continuity with Lulubell/Allen having already met in the crappy filler.

The only thing I remember about D.Grayman anime from recently is that it'll be stopping soon for some reason. I think Bleach is taking it's spot or something. Probably stopping to allow the manga to get a bit further ahead perhaps but I've not heard any official reason.

i had a look at the manga a few months ago, and the anime is pretty much exactly where it was then. so its going to be caught up very soon. i couldnt be bothered to carry on reading it then, maybe i should.
it has been brilliant recently though, and i'd much rather see it take a break for 6 months or whatever than have meaningless filler.

regarding manga, i have just started reading soul eater in the quieter moments at work, starting from where the anime is now, and i'm really liking it a lot. nowhere near up to date with it though. the only other one i read regularly is naruto.
