New and current FS anime Topic

bit off topic but not worth a new thread. im going away for a few weeks and am going to stock up on a few older series to watch. im planning to get gode geass r2 (yes i am ashamed i havent seen it yet), tengen toppa gurren lagann and hopefully the rest of soul eater.

does anyone have any reccomendations for some funny shows though? ive got the likes of azumanga, lucky star and hare nochi guu, which i could happily watch again, just wondering if there was anything else equally as good that i havent seen yet.

Don't be ashamed at not having seen R2, it's pretty bad. Not quite "rapes over the memory of the first series" bad like Gundam Seed Destiny but still pretty awful.

Anyhow recommendations : Pani Poni Dash and Kemeko DX are both good comedies, you may also enjoy Kannagi Crazy shrine maidens which isn't outstanding but it is still entertaining.

I would very strongly recommend you read 'Yotsuba &' too, from the Azumanga author and it's extremely funny and heartwarming. It's a crime there isn't an anime of this yet.

hmm read about that a while ago, not sure why i didnt try it. possibly turned off by that guys makeup (im not at all a fan of that side of metal). ill download an ep or two and have a look though, thanks.

aww i was getting really pumped for it too. just the opening of the first episode was epic. oh well will still watch.

yeah i watched and really enjoyed kannagi. hoping for a second season. will check out Pani Poni Dash and Kemeko DX too.

yeah i was planning on getting some of this on my last trip into the ciry but for some reason didnt. if its anywhere near the quality of azumanga it should be epic though.

I would argue that Yotsuba& is better than Azumanga although it's not exactly a like for like comparison given one is a traditional manga and the other a 4koma.

Hyakko is another series much in the style of azumanga (although not as good)

I was going to say Hyakko, i wouldn't say it's azumanga like at all apart from the high school setting, its more lucky star(talking bits, none of the mad extra's) and subtle life comedy in azumanga.

*Minami-ke s1 and perhaps s2/s3 if you want to see different way of telling the same stories.
*Maria X Holic is really good and short to, features a cross-dresser and perverted lesbian in an all girls school
*Moyashimon, a classic from a couple of season ago, college students and a guy can see microbes
*Honey'n'Clover s1/s2 art students
*Nodame s1/s2 music students
*Toradora

I would also highly recommend the Yotsuba&! manga too, Yen Press are reprinting the whole series (vols 1-6) in September, with new volumes coming in December and then next April.

Just finished watching Turn A Gundam. I wasnt really expecting a great deal from it, what with the fugly mech designs, but man did it exceed my expectations. Turned out to be such a great series, so good i ended up marathoning the last 10 eps. I really recommend people go gve it a watch especially if you were only holding off watching it because of the mech designs, id easily rate it in my top 3/4 gundam series.

Also finally watched through MS IGLOO 2 the other day after gg finally subbed the last ep. Another great gem (along with the other IGLOO series) in the long list of gundam series. The IGLOO guys have a real flare for making tank battles so brilliant. The Hildolfr ep from the first IGLOO, the tank commander ep from IGLOO2 and to a lesser extent the guntank ep from IGLOO2 as well.

Just got Gundam X to watch now, which ive only just realised i should have watched before Turn A due to the loose post UC time line, aw well. Might continue the epic mech series marathon by working though the various Macross series next.

i actually have hyakko and im in the process of getting bakemonogatari and toradora so i'll have to watch them. shall check out some of the others too and it looks like ill have to order some yotsuba&!

Caught up on a whole bunch of stuff.

Fight Ippatsu! Juuden-chan! ep1-8 - this season queens blade except its well animated and theres far, far to much "punishment" that leads to girls weeing themselves... still however they managed to pin all this ecchi stuff on to a depression/suicide fixing plot should be applauded

Suzumiya Haruhi, massive improvement over endless 8 is welcome, loved Kyon almost getting his brains burn outhe back of his head , even though i knew it was coming from having read the books its still good. looking forward to the rest of the filming arc.

Bakemonogatari, still really good. ep8

us over Yuuki's death, having 3 odd "dreams" from Mirai.. didn't twig till i saw Mari signing somthing and Mari looking really taken back by something when speaking to Mirai, so im pretty sure Yuuki is really dead and Mirai's gone bat**** crazy. Looked online to confirm these thing and other pointed out only 2 beds, Yuuki never picks up his bag and Mari never speaks to Yuuki! i would be surpised if Mirai parent are dead to resulting in Mari becoming her guardian

My Balls will probably be ending in a month or so given that they're running out of plot.

Also enjoying Super Dreadnought Girl 4946 which is a surprisingly cute series (would love for this to get an anime adaptation)
