Possibly. Make sure you're well hydrated next time.

      Hey all,

I recently started sorting my diet out and have more or less cut out chocolate completely except for rare occasions by replacing it with different fruits like bananas, and refined sugar intake's been replaced by honey where possible (e.g. on my Weetabix) or cut-down elsewhere (such as less in my tea). I've also stopped my weekly KFC take away for the past few months.

In terms of training, I don't really do anything regularly. I used to do light weights but found my back was aching more as I went up to 13kg dumbbells so stopped to avoid doing something silly. Nowadays I just do press-ups and chin-ups and I work in a warehouse so I'm on my feet all day and get to lift heavy crates but I don't feel particularly fit. Now that Summer's kicked in, I'm more inclined to do stuff, though. Like today, I did some press-ups after hoovering because I'd got all warmed up and took advantage.

Anyway, I was wondering how these weight gain things work. I'm of the opinion that, unless I'm pushing heavy weights regularly, they'll probably just do silly things to me. Is that the case?

I'm after more bulk in arms and chest but my belly's a bit big and I want to sort that out. I'm wondering if I should try and slim down a bit first and then try and put the weight on in a controlled manner. My arms just don't seem to be getting any bigger. I measured them last year and they're still the same now (about 13.5 inches each). I'd have thought you eat according to your needs, and any extra I take in will just get turned into fat or something, so should I just try and push more and then eat more food? How would I tell? Will I feel hungry more often?

Sorry it's pretty nonsensical, but it is 2:09am!

      Cheers

Been back jogging for a couple of weeks now and so far so good. Week 1 3 miles a night, week 2 4 miles a night.

Pretty pleased at my rapid recovery to fitness with an 8 mile run last night which i was well pleased with

          nice one fishbowl

Billy D: measure yourself (chest biceps waist etc) and get on some fat scales if you can. So you track progress every couple of weeks. As for weight gain, you need to be doing serious weights with the aim of building muscle fast. Note that the largest muscles aren't the strongest. If you are working out at home, perhaps get a few sessions with a personal trainer who can give you all the info you need.

Thanks, was a tad longer than my intended route of about 5 miles, went a different way and ended up doing a hundred yards off 8 miles, which indecently is the second longest run ive done with my best at 8.2 miles.

Me and my mate were almost falling apart, he had a hamstring injury and my arms went dead.

Loved every stride though, and it felt so good afterwards, got indoors just in time for the brazil game too

Take those runs easy unless you want a long term injury.

If you've just started getting back into it I'd say only run every other day. Do some gym or other cardio work on the days in between.

Right I need a heart rate monitor as I want to see the BPM of me! Must be either free or cheap anyone know if this will simply tell me what I need http://www.pocket-lint.com/review/20...-running-diet? I would check my pulse but I am dead or can never find it

Can anyone recommend any good stretches/warm-downs for the trapezius muscles apart from just rolling your head around a bit? They went all stiff during sleep last night and I've been in massive pain all day, well, until I got some Tiger Balm rubbed in there of course.

I feel like letting someone twat me around the neck with one of those steak tenderising mallets.

I should really take a picture of these bad boys, got them looking like implants now. Dunno if that's good or bad, tbh.

                    Ready when you are.

I could help you with the relax but refuse to do so as My query is still not answered

Did some new shoulder stuff today and ZOMG burnage! I'm sure if I had a gym or mates it would not be half as excites but as its just me I push myself to breaking point and build on it step by freak find step

If you check out Lidl they are selling a HRM in the next couple of weeks for the princely sum of £13. bargain.

That JML one doesn't have a chest strap so likely to be inaccurate and frankly a bit ****.

Did an 8.5 mile cross country run today with my pal, makes such a difference through woods and fields compared to roads. Wish i had woods near enough and big enough close for proper long routes

Sorry mate, I don't give a **** about reading what my heart has to say right now, eventhough I probably should.

You may want to look into it, to make the most of your training? Or not

I'm blasting out enough cardio this past two weeks and coping with it pretty well, so not all that fussed. The weight gain has stopped again but at least I have my pace back.
