I have to lose like 40 pounds or so ._.

Thinking about swimming, and later on in, october or something, when the snow has covered the ground, I'll start with crosscountry skiing, along with more snowboarding
    Might work :O

Did a 3 hour mountain bike ride along the South Downs yesterday. And on Sunday. Top stuff. Although I need to service my front forks which is a pain.

I normally do a 2 to 3 mile walk every morning. I've got one of those treadmill things, so I can get in a good bit of exercise before I head off to work. It used to be a 4 mile walk, but I seem to have less time to devote to it these days. I do manage to get another 10 minutes on an exercise bike as well, though. Plus I get a 30 minute walk to work, so it's not too bad.
When I started out I was over 16 stone, then I lost over 3 stone in less than a year. Then the trouble started.
The biggest problem I've had in recent months is that whilst I still put the work in, I haven't always cut out the junk food. Chocolate's my biggest vice, unfortunately. I got to a stage where I'd lose the weight, then put it on again, then lose it, then put it on, etc.
I've found this whole weight loss thing is as much of mental challenge as it is a physical one. If you can convince yourself that that mars bar in the vending machine isn't worth it, then that's half the battle won, I think.
Thankfully I seem to be getting out of that rut, and the weight's coming off again.

I must seem like some exercise nut or something, just thinking about some of the stuff I do

I like to run around a bit, typically 5-10km 3-4 times a week, usually mixed in with circuit training (all kinds of things here), bench, dead lifts, press-ups (not too many, around 50), curls and all sorts. Mixed in with a little biking (the machines here are great, random hill settings), I suppose I qualify as 'teh fit'.

There's a gym here at work, I'm right beside it so there's no excuse. I'm signed up for the Windsor half-marathon in Sept. I can do the distance easy, got training on a Wednesday night around the park itself. Might do Reading next year 'cos that's a fantastic event.

          I've always been around 82kg.

Swimming all the way for me. I snapped my back a cpl of years back (fractured both the vertebrae at the base of my spine, which was njoyable!) and it's the best way to build up and keep the core muscles in your back solid and fit as it were without causing me grief. Also of course swimming does every other muscle and I like it 'cos it doesn't fell like you've done anything. I eat pretty well also as being diabetic it's not the best idea to fill yrslf full of crap but then it's not good for anyone...lol!

I do 30-40 lengths of a 25m pool 3 times a week. Works for me.

Though I've gotta say the thing thats put a bit of weight on for more recently is the booze, went on a bit of a bender from March-July and you could see the extra weighty going so I've knocked it on the head and getting back to more swimming. That said I'm tempted to take up a bit of running (used to do it years ago) but not too sure regards the pounding it'll give my back. We'll see...

Keeping the weight off once you have lost it is bloody hard . I have lost around 6 and a half stone in the past couple of years . I do have the very occasional treat but pretty much stick to 1000 to 1400 calories a day , snack on fruit and eat low calorie everything .

I excersize every day be it sit ups , weights or a little running ( Im chronically asthmatic ) Still cant shift me tummy / excess skin though

well done to all those who have stuck at it

*my god, sound a bit like

Anyways, I started (again) on April 23rd and apart from a week when I felt terrible, I've been going to the gym most mornings, running and step for 20 mins each followed by weights and playing footy a couple of times a week. I didn't need to lose much, just trying to get more toned and more fitness. Have gone from 12 stone 8 lbs to 11 stone 8 lbs and feel much fitter. Along with this I have given up smoking and am drinking more water, eating bran flakes for breakfast etc. I do feel much better and it's nice to turn a girls head every now and again. I also have much more confidence not having such a belly. Hope to maybe lose a couple more lbs and get working on the 6 pack etc - Brad Pitt type bod - here we come!!

Having just returned from a year in Asia I definitely need to get back in shape. My weight/appearance is fine but I seriously doubt I could manage a 3 mile run without succumbing to a heart attack.

I have no problem in eating healthily but trying to find the motivation to visit the gym after a day at work is proving rather difficult.

                  Excuses eh?

Well, I started trying to lose weight at the very start of this year. Was weighing in at 16 stone 13 pounds, which really made me spring into action.

7 and a bit months later, I'm 11 and a half stone (5 foot 11 if that makes a difference- I still dont know what my ideal weight should be!) . Just a little bit of exercise combined with cutting out junk food does wonders.

So, anyone out there thinking about changing, do it! It really does make the world of difference!

My dad lost a stone in weight the other night. He was with his buddy down the pub and they were talking, and the one says that he's 14 and a half stone, to which my father responds: "You must be ****ing kidding, there is no way that I'm almost 2 stone heavier than you! I'm a little taller, but we look about the same, no way am I 2 stone heavier."

At this point, Howard the landlord comes over: "What's going on here then ladies, comparing boobs, or something?"

After a quick run down of events Howard decides to put an end to this, walks upstairs gets his electric scales and my old man and his mate stand up and compare weights in the middle of the pub with some 30 other people there.

It turns out that my dad thought he was 16st 4oz... but he's actually 15st 2oz. lol. So he threw out his old scales and proceeded to take up all mannor of exercise in the name of his achievement!

This is my first time I have seen the Keep-Fit topic in ages!

KungFu, that is perfectly normal after a 6 - 8 hour shift at work to find the motivation to go up the gym as I experience that all the time, despite going up at least 2 - 3 (three times is pushing it) times a week.

Why don't you get up the gym in the morning? If you work at 8 - 9am, then surely you can set your alarm for 6.30am and drive/bike to the gym for a hour or so before having a swim/shower and go straight to work.

It will seem strange or exhasting/tiring at first but it will grow on you as you can start the day freshly and come home to do whatever you like.

I am 17 years of age and for my age, I am well above the average strength/size than most, despite me being 5 foot 10".

All I tend to do is 20 minutes on the treadmill at a high speed (12.5), finishing with a 5 minute cooldown time. Another 20 minutes either on the rowing machine or cross-trainer, then I do about half-hour lifting weights (nothing too heavy, mind) and finishing off with 40-50 press-ups and 50+ sit-ups.

It all takes just over a hour of your time, but certain workouts differ for other people. Also, just eat 2-3 fruits a day and avoid crisps, chocolate bars (get the go-ahead bars instead) and drink less ****!

It is hard, but after adapting to the formula it does work.

                        Good luck.

Yeah the mornings is the way forward. Thats been my routine for a while now. Get up around 7, cycle to the gym, do either 40 minuts cardio in there or 40 minutes weights (I alternate as I go every day), then cycle to work and shower.

It means I always get in about 90 minutes exercise before work.

The gym has become such a part of my life over the last 3 years that I actually get irritated when I miss it.

I dropped from 16 stone to 11 1/2 stone when I first started and have since gone back up to 12 1/2 stone - the extra stone being muscle. I'm 6 ft tall.

Ish, I had that same problem also, once my working day is finished the last thing I want to do is goto the gym, luckily for me we have a gym onsite which I can visit during the lunch hour. As time is restricted, I am more motivated and do a more intense workout.

Unlighty thats some serious weight loss man O_O

Yeah it is quite serious, its a lot of weight to drop in a short space of time.I had a lot of people asking me if I was seriously ill!!

I guess I was just eating all the wrong foods. Up until a couple of months ago I was very strict, I wouldnt eat certain foods at all. However, now I'm eating "normally" and the weight is staying off, which is good.

I'm not a gym person, I just do the usual pressups, situps etc at home, and do a bit of jogging - nothing too strenuous!!

My local gym opens at 6am so I'll have a go at an early morning workout Extra Terrestial, see how it goes. I'm sure a nice strong coffee in the morning will help.
