bangaio, lovely shots, do you have a big version of the motorsport one for me to look at? Also, link us to your Flick account rather than just link the pics (make em clickable), I for one would add you as a contact.

Peanuts, seems you've got the tilt shift thing sussed, they're not for me tbh but the effect is pretty damn cool when done right like yours.

As you've all been so kind and encouraging re the car shots (I do love this thread) you can all see some more that I PP'd last night.

Starting with a 100% full frame, no cropping at all, pretty pround of this one!

A beautiful Porsche, can anyone identify it? I get so confused with Porsche model names/numbers!

And a few different angles I tried.

Think I've got it as a circa '70-75 911 Carrera, doesn't look like an RS but could be an S, who knows!

I had to google Ken Masters, sorry

You have quite a knack for these car shots Alastair, I was really surprised to read that they were done with manual focus

Love that last one, the use of negative space is so nice. Especially as the driver is leaning into it.

You're making me blush! Why isn't there an embarrassed smilie?

My camera doesn't do AI servo (tracking) focus so I'm forced to do manual, even if it did my new lens (the Tamron) is too slow for cars anyway, even so it's manual all the way for motorsport work, hone those skills.

Remember I'm only showing you guys the good pics Out of the 90 or so I took about 60/65 were in focus though which is good, I'm definitely getting better!

I have a great shot of one of the old timers leaning right out of his car as he corners, really dramatic, but totally OOF, never mind, maybe next time!

I'd strongly advise anyone that likes photography to go to a track, don't dare use sport mode though, see what you get, should be a fun day. You'd probably need at least a 200mm lens though.

Here ye go. My flickr is a mess and needs much sorting out!

Ali, my race shots are from the 85mm end of my standard zoom - I really need to get my hands on a 70-200 asap!

What kind of camera have you got. Nikon do a great 70-300mm lens for a reasonable price (under 100 quid if you import from Honk Kong). The guy who martyg has posted links to (can't remember his name) raves about it for the price so I bought one and it really is very good. Nice and sharp image quality.

Just got my new camera, not really had a chance to get to grips with it yet, but here's a couple of "point and shoots"

edit: damnit, how's a man supposed to embed photos on this board? No matter what I do, it just converts to links when I submit
