1/60th is really starting to push it for pans - Look at those wheels movin'!!

A nice new angle I found by laying downhill on a slope with my head through a gap in a fence, comfy!

And my mate trying really hard to look like a 'tog!!

Was wishing I had that white lens already yesterday Not too long now though, damn Bank Holiday post.

More shots on Flickr of course but I try not to bore you all with them now.

Ferrari F430s!! Must have sounded glorious. The weather looks like it was balmy as well.

Maybe it's just me and my monitor but the colours seem a bit muted? No dayglo Ferrari red then? I guess that's what Marlboro money gets you. Anyway, superb pics as usual. Enjoy your eggshell lens

Is this one better Richard? http://www.flickr.com/photos/agentl/483114159/

After that shot I went to another step underexposed as it was so sunny and I wondered if that had affected the saturation of the cars paintwork. In the flesh the looked pretty red (nothing like the F1's paint though) and I thought they came out a bit muted too. I already upped the saturation in RSE before converting them to jpegs.

The weather was sunny yes but blowing a gale from the north so a bit chilly.

The F430's sounded nicer than the (race prepared) 360 Challenge Stradales that were there, they were like

It was probably just too sunny so they seem a bit washed out. That's one of the things that I am slowly starting to pick up on during my journey into the world of photography. I went to the zoo again today with my 70-200 + x 1.4 so expect some pics once I have had a chance to go through them and filter out the ****e. One thing that surprised me is how difficult it is to hold her steady at 280mm (448 35mm FOV).

And you've got IS, wimp!! I manage fine with a standard 300mm (so long as the shutter is up over 600 )

I'll be getting a 1.4 soon enough also, will be a cheapy I think though.

That's the thing though. I can't keep it rock steady even with IS so it shows that while IS is superb and very useful it cannot save the day every time. It's psychological anyway as the sway tricks me into thinking that the picture will blurry but as long as the shutter is fast enough, it will come out fine. Silly me.

I've just found out how to do a decent vignetting effect

Via PP or with a filter? Nice pic.

Thanks, done in PS, here's a little how-2.

Use the lasso tool or the elliptical marque tool set with a decent size feather (this will depend on the size of the image so have a play, a full size image from the camera can cope with a 200px feather, a reduced one (like mine above) only needed 100px feather. Select a rough area outside of which you want to vignette.

                      Invert the selection (Ctrl+Shift+I).

With this outside area still selected I used Curves (Ctrl+M) to darken the selected area. The feather basically blends the two areas together.

That's it, simple, if you don't have curves try brightness or levels I guess.

Another way is to use an EF-S lens hood with a WA lens, like the 17-40, on a 5D.

Yeah, I have done it before with filter holders and also a hood like you suggest but they cost money and this is adjustable, allows it to be done on a non WA shot and is free

                          Edited my last post.
