Back in the day (about 1990) I started Kuk Sool Won and got my first degree black belt in 1996. Moved to the NE for uni and gave up as there were no clubs up here and I didn't have any inclination to study another style.
My dad started a year after me, after my instructor persuaded him to join stating that there was no point sitting watching me practise when he may as well join in himself.
This year he will become a 5th degree black belt and Master. I'm actually really proud of him and it only occured to me recently how hardcore he is.

I've also got a 1st Dan in Tang Soo Do so all the kicking etc will be familiar. Just need to get off my arse and wander over there.

I do think I'm going to find it very hard going from a full contact style to semi/no contact...
So went along and watched.. Usual thing of a load of kids and couple of adults. The instructor seemed a nice chap, but even the 2nd Dan's seemed way behind the standard of the black belts I used to train with in Tang Soo Do. But after investigating the style a bit more it seems to be very family orientated, so could be a goer. And the instructor seems well interested in cross skilling a bit, so I'll be turning up with my arsenal of ninja weaponry to play with.

Also, my son (6yrs) is coming along well. In Cotswold camping shop, I turned around to see him doing spinning dragon kick* (or something - I have no idea.) on their coat display.... I told him off while telling him how cool it looked. He got his white sash now Classes are a mix of Kung Fu forms and Kickboxing.
Christ that sounds lie me as a kid. Super!

Attended my first TKD lesson last night.. Sort of enjoyed it, just had to bite my tongue a lot. Lovely group of people though and good atmosphere so will will probably persevere with it.
