You lucky people get to be my venting audience. I'll be as brief as possible but it's a crazy story:
Put a commodore 1541 Floppy drive on eBay. By default the only option selected is "postage" and I didn't even look at these options if I'm honest. My fault? Sure.
Bloke buys it, pays, realises I'm 10 minutes away from him, picks it up on the way home.
The funds stay in eBay, who are waiting for me to post it. Except I'm not gonna post it because he's already got it. There's no way for me to say that he's got it and there's no way for him to tell eBay he's got it and is happy either.
Off to eBay's "contact us" then.
Now, there's no obvious way to talk to a human at eBay, all you can do is chat to a bot that's useless and cannot solve the problem. What I did was keep selecting option after option for about 5 minutes until I had basically clicked on every option at least once and then the magical "chat to an agent" option appears. HURRAH!
The guy I spoke to is very helpful but the bottom line is that I should have clicked the option to allow collection. Because I didn't the money will now stay in limbo at eBay. Forever. FOR EVER.
My solution is to send an envelope to the buyer via their default evri postage system. When the buyer receives the envelope all he will find inside is a note saying "eBay are ****ing useless" but that will trigger the "goods received" and I can get my money.
Thankyou for listening to my Ted Talk.
