Wife cooked a killer roast yesterday. Roast pork boneless shoulder; I chucked a few shallots, apples and bit of sage into the roasting tin with some water and a few dashes of Yorath's special yorkshire sauce and made the gravy from that. The wife made the best roast spuds I have eaten in an age. For afters we had individual blueberry and blackberry trifles which I made the night before. I did everything myself including making the custard.

Ended up having Chicago town pizzas and a bag of onion rings for my tea last night. I bet nobody can beat that for council estate-ness.

Tonight I think I will make a nice chili.

I cooked mothers day lunch for my lads mum, my mum and my mum's mum.

We started with a Langoustine Linguini which I unashamedly nicked form the BBC food site, the sauce (with shallots, garlic, white wine, double cream and the flavour of the langoustine heads/shells) was incredible.

Followed by Turkey with all the trimmings and veg, then some double chocolate gateau (shop brought) then some cheese/biscuits/port... aaahhhhhh *pats belly*

Tonight will be a simple stirfried pork with spring onions and some rice.

      Penance for Sundays feast :/

Being Mother's Day I pushed it out a bit and did this for my Mrs

        Tapas
        - Black pudding with onions
        - Scallops in brown butter
        - Calamari
        - Broad Beans and Bacon
        - Paella
        - Chorizo in red wine
        - Roasted Mediteranean veg
        - Meatballs
        - Cod and Mustard Bake

Finished up with quality Knickerboker Glories loaded with Ice Cream(nat), cherries, peaches, jelly and fesh cream. I had grated chocolate in the top of mine.

Had loads left over so had some fro lunch today. Totally lush, esp the roasted veg.

Will be eating the Monkfish parcels (that I forgot to cook yesterday) with tomato oil when I get in from work.

        Mrs loved it.

That's not a mental image I need right now.

Think I will make cottage pie for tea tonight.

Ran out of time to cook anything decent, so we had oven Fish & Chips...

                  Tomorrow's delights include:

Red Wine & Garlic marinated BBQ Rump Steak
Baked Potato with Ham & Cheese, topped with Sour Cream & Shallots
Rocket, Spanish Onion & Tomato Salad with Danish Fetta & Balsamic dressing

That sounds bang on the money. If you can get hold of some aged ribeye you may be suprised how well it cooks, especially when it's been marinated to break down the fibres.

Home made spag bol except it's with pasta instead of spag - you know what I mean.

Got to say Mr Sanchez, your meal above sounds scrumdiddlyumptious. I love a bit of the old tapas. When I am in Tenerife I know some lovely bars and cafes to get proper tapas. A great memory for me from last year was sitting outside a wonderful bar, with the ocean crashing against the rocks below us, eating a selection of octopus, meatballs and amazing pimientos de padron with an ice cold beer. Better than what the usual tourists have anyway - which is usually steak and chips, a fry up or a gimmicky paella that probably came from a tin.

Anyway, getting a bit misty eyed there.

Tonight I think we are having our once-weekly helping of sausage and mash. Got brocolli and baby carrots with it, might go for some peas as well.

Seany, I've got 75 litres of wine on the go at the moment, PM your address and I'll post down some Rose goodness when it's done.

Superb - will look forward to that. I love a drop of rose wine. When you send it though I will expect you to have made a comedy label for the bottle.
