I haven't had a single drink since I went out last Thursday.

I reckon that is a new world record for me.

I'm going to try and hold out until (Saturday) 7th July where a rather lovely beer festival will take place at the Corn Exchange theatre in Ipswich.

I've also gone back to my usual running routine during the week so I'd rather get back in shape for the time being. I apologise if this particular piece of news is a sorry state of affairs for this thread.

OOf you need a longevity medal.

Well, Peebles of Bean has grabbed a Rhubarb so I'll be able to see what you're all on about. Saturday night will be the night.

Two new boys for me last night.

Gateshead Gold (5%) and Summer Gold (3.7%) from the Northumberland Brewery. Not bad - they tasted remarkably similar to say there was a 1.3% differential.

Went on their website before. They have some outstanding beer clip pictures to go with the beers. One of their brews is called 'If I had a Hammer'. The very un PC beer clip picture is of Peter Sutcliffe! and yet .

Last night I drank a Charles Wells Bowman Stout. Never had it before. It was kinda bland and served a little too cold. 6/10.

Also had a Suffolk Strong. 7/10.

          A Batemans XB. 7/10.

          A Thwaites Original 6/10.

A Budvar Dark (left by my mate as he legged it off after some woman.. amateur).

Off down my dads local boozer tonight and they usually have a couple of guest ales on so hopefully I'll get to try something interesting.

Timothy Taylor's Landlord - one of my favourites. Oddly one of my closest friends shares its name....

Tonights beers: Flowers IPA, Jouster, Ubu. All very tasty. I do like the Ubu though its quite sweet.

I had the rhubarb in the week. I really liked it too but none of my friends did. Odd! I do love rhubarb though

                Ugh.

You know it's been a good night when the next morning you -

                * Wake up with a throbbing head, feeling like you've had no 'real' sleep.

                * Stumble into the bathroom and have the longest piss of the day, which is worryingly of a dark-luminescent yellow colour. The Yellow Peril indeed - it feels like you're pissing out hot treacle with bits in it. All psychological, no doubt, but by gawd, it stinks.

                * About 15 minutes later you lay a brown egg that smells like Satan himself has sponsored it. A foul-stenching sticky ott-a-thon that actually makes your guts feel 3 stone lighter.

Ah! All part of the real ale experience! That heady mix of bitters, stouts and IPA's.

                    Come on Saturday!

                    *is still sober*

I very nearly had a Guinness when I went to Cardiff this weekend but upon listening to the barman as he handed over a pint (of Guinness) to this bloke at the Newport Hilton hotel, '?3.50 please'.

                    Ooof.

Just five more days. Just five more days. Just five mo...

Been away in Dublin for a couple of nights.
Now its fair to say you can't grumble about the quality of the Guinness there and I did partake in a few pints but imagine my delight when I stumbled into the Porterhouse and discovered 3 ales waiting there for me to try.

                      Turner's Sticklebract Bitter - 3.7% - a session ale - easy to drink bit chocolatey/caramely. A good start.
Porterhouse Red - 4.4% - now this was nice - quite sweet and again definite hints of caramel.
An Brain Blasta - 7.0% - the nicest of the lot - really quite fruity and so easy to drink. At 7% I was worried this would be really thick and stodgy but it was surprisingly light. A massive .

I think you should trawl the interweb and try to find it bottled, to order.

I had a Monkey Wrench bitter at the weekend, which was massively overpowering in the flavour department.

You could smell it coming a mile off. Very much a winter ale.

Might have to start ramping up the blonde beer consumption if the sun comes out...

I think I've had that before. Has a Monkey on the front holding a wrench?

                            ???

Tasty! But then again, as you suggest, I probably had it in winter.

I should have cracked open a bottle during those hailstones yesterday...

Gaming and real ale..a site after my own heart!
I've never joined CAMRA but developed a taste for the variety of brews after becoming a regular, and then a barman at a nice real ale pub. Obviously I was required to taste all of the 15 ales on tap so as to inform the customers of there qualities.
One of my favourite breweries which is also a local one, is Enville Ales. I don't think I've had one of theirs that i didn't like.
I tend to prefer the darker winter ales, not neccesarily the strong ones, but a winter warmer all the same

Tonights delights include Mauldon Suffolk Pride (gorgeous 8/10), Waggledance (6/10), Chiswick Ale (9/10).

Unfortunately I now feel rather sick. Having been up for 36 hours and drunk rather too much.
