I wouldn't say the Pixel 4a's camera is fancy, it's just incredibly good.

Some might call that fancy but then if you want pure android and several years of security updates for a low cost it's the best all round.

That's the rumour; I've seen it speculated it could come in at around £600 but at that price it wouldn't be a flagship as the previous models have been - the 4a at £350 would still be a solid buy. Perhaps they're going to make a bigger distinction between the 5 and 5XL this time.

That said, rumours are that the Pixel 6 might be the first phone to have an SoC that is made by Google themselves and will allow for them to offer more than three years of Android OS and security updates.

The 4a 5G is basically going to be the Pixel 4a XL - it'll have a bigger screen than the 5.
Pixel 5 will have a 6 inch screen (between the 4a's 5.8 and the 4a 5g's supposed 6.3) but the smaller bezels will basically give it the same footprint/sizing as the 4a.
I'm a Pixel 4XL owner and tbh it has been a disappointment - poor battery life and the Soli radar/face unlocking has been pure gimmickry. If the 5 comes in at the £500-£600 price range then I might be tempted to "downgrade".

The biggest update with Android 11 is I understand you can use your switch controllers properly with your phone now...

I can't say I've had reason to complain about either of my Pixel phones.

Took it back for a full refund, swapped to a Huawei P30 Pro which I'm currently using. I think the pixel 4 was a massive mistake removing the fingerprint scanner but Google is back on track with the 4a and 5.
That said I'm thinking of ditching the P30 Pro with Trump forcing Huawei to bring their own OS. The P30 Pro is an amazing phone but I don't want their Harmony OS at all.
I'm currently looking at the Poco F2 Pro. I like big phones (I cannot lie) but I'll miss the wireless charging and super fast charge of the P30 Pro.
I don't think I can afford to go near the Pixel 5.

Maybe the pandemic changes that a bit but I can't see it when Qualcomm have new premium Snapdragon SoCs to push.Last edited by Nu-Eclipse; 23-09-2020, 21:42.

I loved the Nexus phones beforehand and I enjoyed using the Pixel 2 I had before (should've kept it in hindsight). I love Pixel software but the hardware has left a lot to be desired. Google should be nailing it, especially given the premium prices they charge for it, but they're not.Last edited by Nu-Eclipse; 23-09-2020, 21:36.
