I think the coin is this player's lucky thing, he wraps it up on the front and ties it with a piece of cloth. As far as I know, he's a complete nutter.
He played in the LNAH (Ligue Nord Americaine de Hockey) which is a middle-standard pro league in Quebec. The structure of quality is something like NHL - AHL - ECHL - CHL/LNAH. The CHL is very average, far poorer than many European leagues, but focuses on skill. The LNAH has some decent players, but the focus was (I'm not sure if it still is) on FIGHTING. Every team in a normal league usually has one or two enforcers, who ensure that the opposition don't try to rough up their star players. LNAH teams have about 5 or 6 enforcers. NHL games maybe have 1 or 2 fights a game on average. A Quebec crowd will feel short changed if it doesn't see at least 5 fights, usually a lot more. It's what they want and what they (at least used to) get. They don't even do much enforcing, just toe to toe bouts for the hell of it.
So yeah, he's a knuckledragger in a dodgy league. But some people collect their jerseys because the love them beat up, torn and smelling of sweat and blood.Last edited by prinnysquad; 05-08-2010, 11:53.

Damn Prinny, that is some INSIGHT into Hockey.......... saves me reading Wiki, thats for sure! My cuz always said to me that even though its a sport, the fighting part is a very apparent thing that 'unfortunately' a lot of the fans come to see.........
Tell yah what, when that puck comes flying at that thin piece of perspex in front of you, its like being shot at! (yes ive been shot at beforeBut thats another story, for when I eventually come to terms with
)
Van Peebles I saw the storms play in Manchester, the tickers were front row, and free lol......... it was about 10 years ago i think........ lol yes, the arena is HUOWGE when only about 200 people are spectating

Quite like the Habs, by default perhaps, as I can't stand Toronto.
The fighting can be good fun, especially in the heat of the game when tensions are high, or one of your best players has just got creamed and you're wanting someone to take out the **** that did it. Also, when there's a big build up to a game between two players who hate each other, there's a sense of anticipation that something's going to happen, which is good.
Up here Newcastle have been so terrible that even the fights have been lousy hugfests with a panto-style build up. Really rank.
re, the puck. I remember at a game a couple of years ago, I bought a cheap jersey at the interval, and just had it sat on my lap. I was in two minds about getting it, but I like the player and it was crazy cheap, so I thought, what the hell. Anyway, later in the period, the game was so boring that I wasn't paying any attention, and instead yapping to the bloke next to me.
Suddenly there was a 'WATCH OUT!' from the crowd. I looked around and saw the players looking in my direction, but couldn't see anything whatsoever. The next thing I know there's a THUD as the puck lands in my lap. It must have looped up high, above my eyeline. So many coincidences saved the day. If it was hit slightly harder it would have smacked me in the face. If I'd been leaning forward a bit I would have got whacked. If I hadn't bought that jersey, and had it in my lap, the puck would have thumped squarely into my knackers.
As it turned out, I just held the puck high in a nonchalant, triumphant manner. A close escape.

lol........ thats crazy Prinny! Did you thank the guy you was speaking to? Cos he also saved yah nads that night! All yah crown jewels belong to him!
I don't think anyone goes home after a hockey game without atleast one fond memory........ The fact I talk about the gamein fondness, when I am not even a fan, is proof in that respect!

Probably the fastest team game in the world, and very, very physical to boot.
Check this out, esp the slo-mo.
Just to balance it up:
Goals
And a Habs goal for 112!

It's pretty poor standard, but decent to get started. Maybe Coventry or Nottingham are your best bets, or try an EPL team. Peterborough I think.
Checking is the best part of the game for me!Last edited by prinnysquad; 05-08-2010, 15:10.
