Never had one when I bought the car. It was originally a display car up in Tokyo with 12000km on the clock when I bought it. Shipping all the way from Tokyo to where I live was only 100 pounds plus it saved me a 30 hour drive if I had gone up to Tokyo to pick it up myself.

There is indeed a front mounted I.C. which is located behind the number plate. You know, where that massive gaping big gap is. I once found a few kittens sleeping in there a year back but what's worse if their mother was in the engine bay! In a way I wish I had the air scoop since it adds that bad boy look to the car.

Yikes. Front mount. You should be able to get some serious safe power out of that. I know people with 2.0 engines (yours is 2.5 yeah?) with 400bhp on standard internals with decent ICs and big turbos. Seems a bit extreme without modding the internals, but shows what's possible if you can drop the charge temperature enough so that boost doesn't need to be as strong.

Most people with front mounts get reverse vents for the bonnet, like on Evos, to aid airflow through the IC. Like this (but that's for a classic).

Wow , this exhaust thing is catching on , I had a little go myself, its not a subaru this time , but I've still manage to keep it japanese.

(thanks charlesr , still learning this youtube thing )

I think this one fits your car, but you'd need to source an original bonnet (you could flog the original scoop to recoup some money - classic owners sometimes like to fit the larger scoops, although I think they look daft on the classics).

GarageNation: sounds cool! Having done it myself, I know how it sounds even better in real life.

@GarageNation: What an interesting sound your MR2 has. Any chance of a video of it running?

Thanks for the link, charlesr. Defiantly something to think about for the future. At the moment though I've got another speeding violation debt to pay off. 13000 yen (95 pounds) to attend a ****ty 1 day course just so I don't get banned for 30 days plus a 65000 yen (488 pounds) fine for doing, wait for it....... 81kmph! 81 ****ing kmph! That's only 50mph on a 4 lane road with a split down the center to avoid hitting oncoming traffic. The road is massive, straight and so very long. Can you guess what the speed limit is on it? 50kmph (30mph) can you believe that? That's the same limit as found on roads with pedestrian pavements. I've said it a million times but I'll say it again. The speed limits in Japan are seriously ****ed up.

Ahh I see it looks very sleeper with it off. Well from the videos it does anyway.

@Garagenation, the MR2 sounds nice with that system. I was never keen on the turbo 3S sound but I like that. I had a custom system on mine than ran almost silent, just turbo spool only.

I have this instead Yakumo , which sounds quite similar to mine but without the 450 bhp , lol

lol. I wonder what my turbo sounds like. Inside the cab, it's quite loud.

Which means Mrs Charlesr always knows how much I have my foot down...... oooops (well, that and the acceleration )

Do any of you guys service your cars?

After my four-hour cleanathon today (still haven't even washed the car yet!), I was getting in the mood for an oil change and whatnot, although I'm not sure if I could do it with just the jack for wheel changes, whether you can leave the car jacked up for however long it would take to drain the oil out (and whether I'd be able to completely drain it at an angle like that). I might just take it to my local this week as they're good guys and also they may spot problems that I will most likely miss, and also they changed the coolant a few months ago so I imagine that will knock a bit off the price for the service.

nice. I may do another video someday soon from inside the car but at the moment
I need to lay low as far as speeding goes. Fingers crossed that I'll have a bit of cash handy fo the next Mine circuit raceday.

Billy_dimashq, you don't really need to keep your car lifted up to change the oil as long as you can fit a bowl under there.

I used to service cars including cambelts and stuff (with a little help from a friend).

Now, my time is too precious and I'd rather just pay someone else. I'll still do sensor replacement and easy stuff like that though (no mess!).

It depends on the car really, you might need to lift it a bit to get a tub under like Yakumo said. Also you might have to remove an undertray? Are you changing the filter too? Get the oil warmed up too before you drop it

I'll find out how much they charge first before deciding. I doubt there'd be much point in doing a few bits myself if they're going to do them anyway. The only reason I reckon they'd be willing to ignore the coolant is because they did it themselves so recently. Considering what the car's been through this past year, I'm thinking I'll just get it serviced now and then do the oil and other bits myself next time.

In Japan we are lucky. Go to somewhere such as Super Autobacks, buy the oil for about 3500 yen for a standard size of Castrol Magnetic something or other and the shop will change the oil for you at no extra charge. Same with coolent too. Mind you, changing coolent is not hard at all. And if you are lucky they'll also do a quick service check.
