I think this came out ages ago in the US store and the word really wasn't good.

The great version of Settlers on the iphone has got me hankering for some more empire/civilisation building games. Any recommendations?

Never been able to get into civilisation.

Street Fighter IV is down to £3.99 (30% off) for 3 days to celebrate the release of Super Street Fighter IV. Can't see it ever getting any cheaper, so if you were intriuged, now might be the time.

I purchased it and sadly, despite it being absolutely incredible as far as SF4 on an iPhone goes, I can't get on with the touch screen controls at all, buyers remorse.

It's one of those, it I was reviewing it I'd say 8/10 but with the strongest possible caveat that if you find touch screen joystick controls tricky, then avoid.

You liked Jungle Runner? Man, that game was broken! If they'd actually made the touch screen respond properly (never seen that happen in a game til this one) then it'd have been a fun freebie. Tap Tap Ninja I find fun, gotta love the OpenFeint game of the day!

I didn't like it but once I managed to work the crappy controls I thought I could grab the achievements pretty easily...

the sequel to the fantastic Alive 4ever is out.
              bargain at £1.19
When we first reviewed Alive 4-Ever back in August 2009, we were thoroughly impressed to see a top-down dual-stick shooter finally delivering both the depth and breadth of content that the genre was reall...

Sword & Poker 2 now out at introductory £1.19, downloading now, my guess is its more of a 1.5 than 2 but suspect there will be a quids worth of fun in there as last is still my most played game.

price is a 50% introductory offer

A very ambitious Rogue-like called 100 Rogues has been released. Only played a little bit so far but it seems excellent. Poor timing though - the update for the brilliant Sword of Fargoal was released just hours before. And then Badman 2 was released for PSP. Too... many... games...

Anyone get Machiavelli's (sp?) Ascent from the OpenFeint game of the day? Apparently it's been on XBL as well! Nice little game though.

Just found the joys of Calibre - An ebook management system/content server and Stanza - an ebook reader.
Convert your docs in calibre and then load them. Supports virtually every doc format under the sun too.

Can anyone recommend me a decent paint / photo editing app? I've got Photoshop which is ok but I'd like something that allows me to add text and drawing to my photos too .

Yep, Calibre is an excellent tool. Has a good (albeit slightly buggy) manga conversion function too.

Being an incredible nerd I actually coded a little VBA app to help batch me rename the contents of horribly sorted zip files (chapters all in seperate folders, all images named 0-30.jpg).

I really should spend another hour or two coding it to cope with more levels of nesting and possibly auto-extract any zip/rar files. Would be a pretty handy tool that I could release...

                              From Eurogamer...

German developer The Coding Monkeys has announced that a version of the popular German board game Carcassonne will hit the Apple App Store sometime in May.

According to the developer's blog, the iPhone version will be released first at a price of $4.99 in the US and €3.99 in Europe (we're still waiting to hear back on a UK price). A universal edition, designed for either the iPhone or iPad, will reportedly be released sometime later for $9.99

In Carcassonne, two to five players take turns placing land tiles and trying to secure control of the ever-expanding map. The iDevice versions of the game will support single player matches against AI opponents or multiplayer face-offs via play-and-pass, local WiFi, bluetooth and internet play.
