You can only have clips that are less than 40 seconds long as custom ringtones though.

I put a few on my iPhone 3G without much hassle.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that there's a SCUMM app/emulator for the iPhone- has anyone tried this and got Monkey Island, Sam and Max etc. running ok on it?

Saw that mentioned over on NeoGAF few weeks back, was running fine from what I recall.

After mulling it over, im going to get one of these when my current contract with orange expires. 1 major Q though, what is the camera like? i heard horrible rumours about the 2g Iphone having the worst camera software ever! so hows the 3g one?

          Thanks

          EDIT

2nd question.... ive also been looking at the 2g one, bar the speed of the internet, what major differences are there? i only use mobile internet for facebook and checking footie scores, so would a 2g be worth it? can you use the itunes app store with it still?

Definitely getting one at the weekend now!! Can't wait. Do the apps install when you download them from the app store? Happy now there is a legal MMS app to received pictures without going to the horrible O2 website. Still don't quite understand how to do custom ringtones though, is there anyone kind enough to talk me through it?

The camera is nothing special really. There's no flash, zoom, or macro mode so really, it's just handy to have for things like taking photos in the pub etc. It's particularly handy for me work-wise when I need to take photos of stock we have in to email directly to customers for reference.

The difference between 3G and 2G is like night and day. You may say that you'll only use Facebook and a few other things but once you start finding ways to use the iPhone day to day, the 3G connection becomes a definite must-have. The additional difference is that you may live in an area where Edge reception is poor but may have far better 3G reception.

Regarding ringtones, there's a few options for you here which should sort you out.

AB - Only difference between old and new iPhones is the 2G & 3G yes. Camera is still sh*t I believe (it's not been updated) two megapixel isn't it ?

You can use the App Store with old version yes, as long as you're on firmware 2.anything - same goes for iPod Touch.

EDIT: I type way too slow

Found this for the ringtones: http://itunesm4ptomp3.wordpress.com/...g-only-itunes/

Now I finally understand, 'tis a pile of piss. Works with iTunes 7.7.

The only difference that exists between the 2.5G iPhone and the 3G iPhone is a hardware one - the 3G iPhone has a faster 3G radio (OBVIOUSLY, heh) and a GPS transceiver. The 2.5G iPhone can functionally do everything that the 3G one can because it runs the exact same software and has virtually identical hardware - this means application store programs work, as does everything else. The only thing the 2.5G one can't do that the 3G one can is track its own position via GPS.

EDIT: duhhhhh....didn't realize there was another page in which this question was answered. Stupid, sorry.

Another question here guys, sorry for all the questions. Hotmail on iPhone is there an app that can do it for me? Instead of having to go on the Internet all the time?

Yeah just type the necessary details (address, password etc) into the dedicated email client on the iPhone. Like on a Blackberry.

I didn't think Hotmail worked over POP3? I know you used to be able to get it to work with Outlook or Outlook Express but that was using some funny http settings which Microsoft saw fit to take away.

Yeh I don't think it works, cos you need all the outgoing and ingoing server crap lol. I just want to know if there is an app that does it a simple way.

I'm not a mobile phone person, but I was interested in one of these at it looked like a decent all in one device (phone, internet, music, movies, email, games, GPS, camera).

But then I looked at the price.

Seriously, I'd be looking at paying ?760 over 18 months for this. That's a MASSIVE outlay for what this is. So I had a look at the Tocco and that's not much cheaper.

No wonder all my colleagues at work moan about having no money each month - it all goes to pay for their phones. Glad I'm not in this rat race.
