Genius on the iphone is so ****. Ive got like 8gigs worth of music on there, and everytime I select a track it says "This song doesnt have enough related songs".

Genius is actually pretty good when it's got your whole library to work with. Seems a bit pointless with the limited space on the phone, though, but to be honest I only listen to podcasts and my favourites playlist on that most of the time.

It's cost me some money already anyway. Found me this artist that does piano and violin versions of anime songs (Ghibli stuff mainly) and I bought a couple of albums.

I know, when using iTunes I love it, but dont see how it cant find any related songs on the iPhone - as if I pick the same song on iTunes it brings up a selection of songs that I also have on the iPhone itself.

My iPhone has just bricked . I left it to sync and when I came back to it, only the apple logo was showing and itunes was not responding. I disconnected the iPhone and itunes sprang back into life. The iPhone just shows the apple logo and nothing else. Resetting the phone (holding home and on/off together) makes no difference.

I need a system restore. However the problem is that whenever I connect the phone to the PC, itunes just hangs. As soon as I disconnect or switch off the iPhone, itunes comes back to life.

At first I thought it ws my PC, but I installed itunes on my laptop and exactly the same thing happens.

Anyone have any ideas on how to restore the phone without itunes? Otherwise it's back to the O2 store for a new phone tomorrow.

            Try this out brats:

            1. Start iTunes and plug the phone in.
            2. With the phone powered on, hold both the POWER and HOME buttons for
six seconds. The screen should turn black.
            3. Wait two seconds while the screen is black and release the POWER button
while still holding the HOME button.
            4. The screen will remain black, but after a few more seconds iTunes will
detect the phone in recovery mode.
            5. Release the HOME button and restore firmware with iTunes.

this update is outstanding. My mk1 iPhone runs better than when I first bought it. Everything is a lot faster'

It's reminded me of what I liked about it in the first place. Tasks are completed in seconds with a couple of taps.

Be interesting to see what the battery life is like.

QFT. I suppose it's a nice idea, but I'm not entirely comfortable with the idea of some kind of artificial intelligence second guessing what kind of music I may like. Just think there's something a bit Skynet about it. Cool if it leads people to discover new music, but when I had a little mess around with it, I selected a Cure track and it threw Bon Jovi back at me, so it can **** right off. That's just insulting.

I have the same issue with Genius on the Touch. But, using it with iTunes on 200GB of music to choose from and things are very different - it can usually come up with fantastic playlists. I've been amazed by it. If I were Apple, I'd have been making an even bigger deal about this.

But it depends totally on quantity of music to choose from. And that doesn't really fit with them dropping the 160GB classic, giving the 120GB classic few of the new features of the Nano implying a phase-out and not giving the Touch or iPhone a large capacity boost.

No news on a 'pay as you go' option for the iPhone?

I find it slightly annoying that I have to carry my Blackberry Pearl (only for work purpose), Nokia phone and iPod nano all at once where the iPhone would be one ideal combination in my pocket.

I would pay ?300-400 for it!

Tried this and it worked. iPhone is now upgraded to 2.1 too which seems a lot more stable. Thanks very much for the help .

Anyone else finding this is much better about handing off from 3G to EDGE as well? When 2.0x couldn't get a strong 3G connection it would drop to no signal at all for 2-3 seconds before reconnecting, but this appears to flick from 3G to EDGE/GPRS pretty much instantly.

I've been well impressed with the update. Version 2.0 clearly wasn't finished but this pretty much has things running as they should be. Here's to 2.2 where Apple can focus on adding new features rather than finishing off 2.0...

Im currently on o2 and have 10 months to go on my current contract. I am also eyeing up the Iphone 3g for some time.

Is it really worth the plunge? I will have to keep my old contract as well and just downgrade my contract next month to limit the cost. Costs too much to cancel the contract!
