    The Skateboarding Thread

Well I thought I'd start 1 seeing as there isnt 1 on here & that a few of us on here dabble in a bit of plank riding. I've put it here instead of the Sports thread because imo I dont see skateboarding as a sport, its more of an interest that I enjoy & can be creative with.

Post anything skateboarding related i.e. what youre riding, new set ups, injuries, favourite Companies/Riders, your local skatespots, new tricks u got dialled, DVD's you've seen, News, pics of places you've skated, bit of nostalgia, or if u need advice or are just starting etc.

Young uns, Tech Wizards, & Old Schooler Dinosaurs (like me!!) are all welcome.

    Ok I'll start then.

Picked up a DVD to rival Fully Flared. Its called 'Fun' by Powell Skateboards, featuring practically unknown riders.

This DVD has some unbelievable skating from some pretty mature headed young riders.

Nose slide to Nose Blunt anyone?, FS boardslide to FS Hurricane on a handrail anyone?.
Tech, obsure, original & burly skating all round.

I just hope these guys stay with the Co that made them unlike in the past when other Co's poached top riders from Powell & H-Street.

Packed with a good choice of tunes & a ton of extra footage this DVD is worth the cash, or you can watch it on youtube. Check this DVD out if you know whats good for you.

I haven't watched a skateboarding DVD in ages, I tried to get more into BMX'ing but its just fkin scary and hurts a LOT when you fall off at nearly 31

I get kindof turned off by skating or bmx dvd's though if I'm being honest because its all punk music and them mostly driving around in the 'tour van' and getting drunk off their asses, puking and partying, with a little skating .. sometimes.

I should go out on mine more definitely though.

Depends on the vids Kernow. Maybe its mostly Tour DVD's youre talking about, but there are some amazing vids out there with full on amazing skating parts that have been made in the last 5 yrs. There's also a nice mix of tunes on most of them these days. Its the 1's full of ghetto hip hop ****e that turn me off tbh - too much steeze & posing with gold everywhere & a joint, & doesnt get me hyped for a skate.

I agree tho. I dont want to see puking, smoking, goofing around, partying etc. I just want pure skating.
And altho I cant do anywhere near what these guys can do they still get me hyped on going out on me plank.

Can't skate at all myself, but this film is great.

The origin of skateboarding: Dogtown and Z-boys.

Yeah thats a top documentary, but not to be confused with the over the top Hollywood bollox that is 'Lords Of Dogtown'.

If u like that documentary then u should defo check out 'Stoked - The Rise And Fall Of Gator', which is gripping viewing from start to finish.
