If you want to watch the footie and have cheap beers in a lively atmosphere try a bar called Tasu Ichi in Shibuya.
It's a standing bar so it's easy to get chatting to people too.

        Edit*
Sorry too late for the game.

Asakusa is good for traditional bits & pieces too. Plus Sensoji Temple is pretty amazing.

Random question Crispy; how are things in Tokyo at the moment? Is there any noticable "fear" or "worry" about everything that is going on further north? I'm still desperate to head out later in the year and really don't want anything to stop me.

I've noticed that Expedia have no listings for flight & hotel trips to Tokyo for any month that I check. Bit disconcerting.

Tokyo is as normal, although some stations seem a little darker and quieter than usual as some of the lights and escalators are turned off to save electrisity and a few train lines are running at slightly reduced capacity. Should have no effect on a trip now, let alone later in the year. The people are going about their business apparently as usual.

As Tomato said, it's life as normal here.

As for Expedia, my parents-in-law arrived this weekend and we used Expedia to book them hotels in Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima just last night...

Nothing, although they're wondering about foreign news and way there's no tourists.

BEST COUNTRY EVER, **** THE GAMING.

EDIT: Noticed a glut of yanks on the way out, so we were lucky to have the (very large) City to ourselves, the missus wants to go again and she hates games.
