      Wrong numbers.

      At 3.00 am.

Better than a right number at 3am, that could only be someone with very bad news.

Does anyone look at other peoples fingernails? It's become an obsession of mine. Colleagues at work, people I know, family, random people in sainsburys. etc.

          I've seen some right longuns.

I am beginning to think it is a good judge of a person.

            A very good point.

I get happy every time I'm called by a wrong number guy. Means I can leave the conversation within seconds and get back to my business.

That makes less sense than kernow's fingernail thing.

A friend decides to call you for a chat while you're trying to play something online with a big group that once you leave you may never find again. In that situation, you'll be stuck chatting. (obviously if it's important that's another matter. A wrong number and you can get back to gaming ASAP.

I guess that's about what he means.

But surely getting no phone call at all is even better!

I get around this by not having a landline, and screening mobile calls before answering

True, but when the call is already received, the best outcome will always be wrong number.

Image verification, specifically while trying to register for a website is a new pet peeve of mine

Wtf kind of purpose does it serve other than to annoy? You have to write completely made up words exactly as they appear, in most cases missing off a hidden punctuation mark or getting a letter wrong because it's so damn hard trying to make out what they are!

                          Comment

CAPTCHA image verification is used to prove you're a human and not just a bot that might be programmed to maliciously flood the server with requests. Because computers can't read pictures see (except when they can, like with optical character recognition).

Also when you see the 'reCaptcha - Stop spam, read books' logo next to one, youre actually converting a scanned version of an old piece of literature into digital format. And you don't have to bother with the punctuation either.

So basically they do have a lot of purpose.

I got a call today from a bloody indian claiming to be from a company called 'Online Security', which apparently works for all the major ISP's & can tell when your computer is running slow or has been infected, & can then run you thru live how to fix it. Apparently my computer was shown to have these issues, despite them not knowing who my ISP is.

F**kin wankers! The cheek of phoning me on a Bank Holiday literally minutes after I've just finished work & with the brass neck of trying to con me into handing over any of my online details!
After questioning them over which ISP I use I told them that I dont have time for these kind of calls, especially on Bank Hols, to which HE put the phone down on ME, thus proving he was full of ****e & a con artist.

Where the hell do these ppl get my details from?

Haha, I keep getting spam phonecalls on my landline, a landline with a phone number which I have given to literally ZERO people.

The thing that irks me most is that second. You say hello, and then there's that second of silence before their recorded message starts where it suddenly dawns on you what's happening. It's so bloody irritating!
