Hope it all works out for you Ady. For the record, if anything like this had happened to me, I'd have been posting it on a forum literally before I even got home.

That sounds sarcastic I'm sure, but I'm 100% serious. No need for anyone to be giving you hassle over that, I reckon.

Because, quite bluntly, I thought you were being an idiot and was trying to help you, I thought perhaps it got lost on the first page, so I reiterated it.

As it turns out, many have, and their comments have been quite helpful. Certainly more so than your unnecessary bleating from the cheap seats.
What a very grown up response, no wonder you'd rather post about it on the internet than speak to a police officer.

Sorry to have upset you so much, that obviously wasn't my intention. I hope it's all resolved anyway.

Discussing something that happened to me on a forum on which I regularly post is idiotic? Well pardon me, Jebus.

Grown up like your completely uncalled for namecalling and sniping?

        Why thank you.

I wasn't calling you names, I was saying that I thought you were acting an idiot, and I stand by that. I also don't believe that I was sniping.

Posting it on a forum you frequent isn't idiotic, but doing it before reporting it to the police, in my opinion, is idiotic. But you already knew I meant that anyway.

You were threatened in the street for no apparent reason, and your first inclination was to go and post about it on the internet, not report it to the police. For me, either you had an incling of why you were confronted in that manner and chose not to tell the forum, or you do need to grow up.

Once again, apologies for derailing the thread, I'm sure if you want to discuss if further you could PM me, though of course the dramatic thing to do would be to continue with this route.

It's not the first time Ady has posted something then over reacted to a comment made by someone. Backs up the whole 'don't tell me what to do attitude' that probably got him in the situation in the first place.

I never get thing like this happen to me, its normally just from tramps.

If anyone gets up in my face, I am woried about what they do but if they touched me, id prob puch the crap out of them!

Thats the advantage of being 6'3 and 17 stone and not really fat!

Im really against 'ASBO' behaviour and makes me feel sick when I see it on TV etc. Its a situation you should not have to deal with unless you brought it upon yourself in the first place.

It's not the first time you've responded blithely to something you really don't know anything about either.

Well what I actually said was that I had intended to speak to the police but wasn't sure whether me simply telling them that someone had threatened me would be enough for them to do anything (or if they even would, for that matter). Hence, I posted here to see if anyone else had been through similar things and had anything to add before I made my move, that was all. You then commented that you thought posting on here was inappropriate. Twice. You did so (as far as I can tell) to get a reaction, and not because you genuinely wanted to help.

That shows how very little you know me. I'm not some trolling idiot who would rather upset someone online than try and help someone out. I've better things to do with my time, and it feels like you are just spoiling for a rumble, albeit of the internet variety. I was trying to help, but you obviously didn't want to hear the advice I had to give, which is fair enough, but no reason to doubt my sincerity.

I reiterated it a second time because I felt concerned that you *still* hadn't reported it to the police. If you are threatened in the street, for whatever reason, and it bothers you enough that you are still thinking about it by the time you get home, you need to report it to the police (third time now, sorry), not just for your safety, but because if anything does come of it you need to have shown responsibility about it from the beginning, and have an official record of a complaint, on record, with the people who can actually do something about it should it go any further.

I admit that I'm a little (not sure of the correct way to describe it but I'll go with...) old fashioned in that I don't understand the culture of facebook, sharing lots of personal information, facts and the like on the internet. I'm thinking of the story where two young girls got lost somewhere and used their phones to twitter/facebook/whatever it rather than using the phones to call for help from someone who could actually help. It seems the first port of call to people nowadays is to "blog" something, as opposed to think about what has happened, what they should do, what is the sensible thing to do etc.

I have actually asked a few people what they'd do in your situation (none of the people I asked were heavy internet users) and every single person said "Go to the police".

Charles is right though, I'll move on. Once again I apologise for upsetting you, though I stand by everything I've said. I won't get involved again as the discussion from my point of view is now a fruitless one, though I was sincere with wanting to help you out.

I wasn't threatened tonight but some scrote had a go at me for something ludicrous. Walking home from work I have to cross a very busy dual carriageway (controlled by lights). A guy I was standing next to crossed in front of a bus that was turning off but I didn't want to step out until the cars heading my way stopped and I hadn't noticed yet that the green man had appeared.

Some obviously drunk loon eating his take away walks up, "Start walking then, are ye that fooking daft that ye can't see a green light", then as I walk off "fooking students" (even though I was wearing a suit!!). Couldn't be bothered to comment as I'm feeling a bit under the weather. I should have got all ninja on his ass like that dude in the YouTube vid

Best bet would be to just forget about it, stuff like this happens, the worst thing you can do is let it bother you.

Most likely you won't have any more hassle from him, if however you do then tell him you've already reported him to the cops, just the mention of you having taken some action will make him re-think things and realise its not worth continuing to hassle you.

I had a guy jump in front of me for a taxi, I said to him that there was a queue of people waiting, he reponding by threatning to stab me, I turned away from him at that point and he clocked me side on round my jaw, he had a massive jagged ring on his finger too which gashed my lip, had to have stitches for it.

Nothing you can do though, there are wankers out there who just don't give a ****, can't let them get you down.

Just been threatened outside my own house. Long story short i there's a space on my front door where i park my car, there's also a Sun Centre across the road where the staff use my house as a carpark. Fed up with coming home one too many times and having nowhere to park, i get out and write "Not a carpark" on the car in the snow.

20mins a later the carowner almost puts my window through and banging on my door, "Did you f**kin'" do this etc". Then gets her bald ugly fella to drive his van over, "we can park wherever we f'kin want too", "i'll knock your f;kin teeth out son". Then gets out of his van, so thought it best to close the door and ignore it.

Pretty shaken and not sure what to do.
