    Train2Game

    Hi Guys,

Hopefully going to be doing a 'Train2Game course in games design in February, which will get me a TIGA diploma at the end of 20 months ish. Anyone heard of these guys they are a section from another company called Metropolitan International Schools (MIS) who have 50 years in professional training.

    Anyone had any experience?

    Cheers,
    Rob

Are you joking? It's a massive scam isn't it?

Haven't a clue mate, that's why I posted here. Does sound to good to be true, but then I've seen raving reviews about it. Rang around a few games studios (Blitz, Codemasters, Jagex) and they all seem to know about it. Just wondered if anyone had any opinions about it on here.

First suggestion by Google's autocomplete doesn't inspire confidence

I'd be a bit dubious about them. Aren't they the ones who make ludicrous claims like "EARN £40k!!! GUARANTEED!!!1!" and "Computer games are RECESSION PROOF!" and other such obvious nonsense?

There's a bunch of videos removed from youtube that I've previously seen where you could watch their sales pitch.

I've seen their adverts in loads of local press around London/Essex, not that that's much to go by. Can't you do the same course in the Evenings at a nearby college or something?

I certainly wouldn't trust them with thousands of pounds up front.

Very very weird. They do indeed seem to be recognised by Tiga and they do seem to offer courses.

However forums are full of people complaining (especially about the hard sell tactics by their salesmen) and I can find very little information on the quality of teaching provided by them.

                  *edit*

Scam for sure. Courses actually exist but they're piss poor. When a company has to sue so many people you know something's up. Their 'sister' companies which specialise in IT training have been on watchdog.

Do not go near these people. Go to a recognised University or if you like, distance learning company like the OU (I can highly recommend).

This. T2G don't offer recognised qualifications. And the whole point of qualifications is that they are widely recognised...

A degree probably wouldn't cost much more than these 'courses' anyway (in terms of tuition fees I mean).
