    Christmas tipple + nibbles

Now The Season is upon us, what are we filling (or half-filling) our glasses/mugs with? For me, Christmas is a time for Stone's Ginger Wine and brazil nuts. An excellent flavour combination in my humble opinion. Quite partial to a glass of Amaretto as well.

Naturally, twiglets are a necessity, as are random chocolate biscuits and dark chocolate oranges.

Would anyone like a cheese football?

Christmas has to include a ridiculous number of sausage rolls and pringles.

Ugh. Just had flashbacks to a New Year's Eve when I made myself sick on sherry and curry pringles...

I love Stones Ginger wine with a whiskey in it. I eat loads over the Christmas period and am a massive fan of pickles and chutneys.

Lots of whatever cans of any beer are on offer (24 cans of carlsberg at £14 for the win!) and plenty of meats: Beef, a giant turkey (toasted turkey sandwiches on boxing day morning are dreamy), ham, pork, sausages wrapped in bacon and more beef equals a perfect Christmas

          Oh, and twiglets of course.

I found one bottle of Stone's in Japan in 4 1/2 years. Not even Tokyo - Sapporo of all places! Made it last 2 years.

Luckily Co-op 3 blocks away has it here. I don't know who designed the caps they have here, they just turn and don't come off. It took me 20 minutes to open a bottle last night by peeling off the breakaway bit of the cap with a penknife and a pair of pilers.

I'm no wine expert but for me it will be a good old bottle of Krampus' special Christmas beer brewed the year before. Beers do not age well like wine does, but this beers acquires a somewhat acid aftertaste that is a bliss to indulge when all relatives are coming to your house for a day-long Christmas "lunch".
And gastromic panettone to eat. Mhmmm.

I'll be looking forward to our households traditional Xmas Eve meal of warm, thick bread which is stuffed full of cranberry and whisky roasted ham. Washed down with a large glass of expensive red.

That and there's also the chocolate Xmas cake to look forward too. I didn't think that traditional Xmas cake and chocolate would go, but we tried it a few years ago and it was lovely. It's become a staple ever since.

Less extravagant but equally heart attack inducing options will usually consist of lots of lager, beer, wine, Pringles, nuts (standard and chocolate coated) and Twiglets.

                Yummy!

I love winter drinks. Winter Pimms (No.3) with hot apple juice, Sherry, Port, mulled Wine or Stone's. For nibbles - Honey roasted cashews for a treat.

Captain Morgans and Diet Coke. Also a selection of fine cheeses.

Nuts of all types, but particularly Brazil nuts. For drinks, my Dad and I usually consume unhealthy amounts of Port, and that's about it for me.
