    About the London Arcade

    Hey guys.

I'll be flying to Scotland tomorrow but will have a few hours to kill in London. I'll be arriving at Gatwick tomorrow at 17:35 and won't be leaving for Glasgow (Victoria Bus station) until 22:30.

Can someone give me directions to the London arcade? (Trocadero if I'm not mistaken?) Is it a managable trip?

I don't really know London all that well.

    Thanks

The Trocadero is close to Picadilly Circus tube, you should be able to get to that pretty easily. Depends how you're getting from Gatwick into central London though.

No idea mate. My plan was to just ask people when I get there.. Subway or Bus, whichever is easiest..

You are aware that Gatwick is bloody miles away from London right? You'll most likely take a train.

Gatwick Express into London I'd expect.

            Gatwick... train to London Bridge.
London Bridge to Charing Cross by train.
Walk to Trocadero via Leicester Square or take the Bakerloo Line.

Piccadilly to Victoria is two lines, two stops, then a walk to the bus station.

Off the top of my head.

Get a Gatwick to London ticket which includes a day card for zones 1 and 2 (unless they only do 1-4?).

Does the Gatwick Express not go into Victoria?

                Yeah you're right.
But I think the non-express trains are cheaper.

If I didnt go to London back in November, I would have no idea what you was talking about with all this zone and line talk - it's amazing how much you get from actual experience.

Kyo, don't worry about getting lost, from what i could tell, 75% of people using the underground have no idea where to go either!

London underground = human rat race..........

Isn't the trocadero closed down and being converted in to a hotel?

I believe it is going to close down to be converted into a Japanese style capsule hotel for the Olympics apparently, but i think its still open at the moment.

Yeah the Funland arcade element is definitely still open atm.

EDIT: Although I hope you know that Gatwick is really really far from central London...it's basically just in Surrey. Once you get into London take the tube to Piccadilly Circus.

If i'd known it was still open i'd have taken my nephew when he came to visit, shame he missed out, but haven't been up round that way for a while. Took him to the imax that night instead, which was excellent anyway.

He didn't really miss out, it's grimy as **** and full of menacing security guards who tell you to put your hood down.

Wearing a hood in what, from past experience, is a dimly lit play isn't necessary though. Its not cold either.

It is a **** hole though, only been there maybe 3 or 4 times since it opened many years ago.
