I expect it won't feel much faster than the iPad 2 in use as all that grunt will be to power the amazering resolution. Of course, I'm partly saying that because I just got an iPad 2 but it seems to me like they'd put in just enough to do that(probably a bit more) for now and save the really powerful stuff for the next one, whenever that comes out.

I'm glad I didn't actually watch the presentation. They apparently demoed Autodesk Sketchbook(which is my favourite thing about the iPad) and I bet if I saw it I'd want the new one

Meh nothing special, I made the mistake of getting a 4s thinking they were that much better than a 4 so won't be doing the same with the pad not worth the upgrade fee

Given how accurate the early rumbles on Apples products tend to be surely it's worth holding out on this new model considering the long standing reports of yet another new model hitting in October?

If there is a new model in October, I'd be stunned if it's a new iPad in the same range. My guess is it's more likely to be one of those mini iPads that have been speculated about for a while, if it happens at all.

Can't see the point in a smaller iPad. The current size needs to go in a bag to transport it and anything bigger than an iPod touch (essentially a small iPad) is too big for a pocket so you may as well get the regular iPad.

Photos on this new iPad will look lovely. Why can't Apple make me a new MacBook with that screen on it (but 13")?

I've still got an original iPad so I'm tempted to upgrade. I was thinking of just going up to a refurbished iPad 2 as they're now only ?289 on the Apple Store, but the cheapest iPad 3 (sorry, I mean, "The New iPad") is ?399... so now I'm thinking that if I was gonna spend nearly ?300 I might as well spend nearly ?400 and get the newest one! I dunno though, decisions decisions.

for the fact its a new screen, camera and chipset if you're going to upgrade then its a good idea for the extra ?100

I've got an Ipad 2 with contract from Orange for the next 18 months and i certainly wont be getting rid or doing anything until the Ipad 3 or something brand new comes out

Ipad 2 is more than good enough for me right now

have downloaded IOS5.1 and it seems the best functionality is reserved for the latest Ipad and Iphone 4S

If you have the original iPad and intend to upgrade, the new iPad looks like a good option. I have the second version. I don't think I'll bother with the new one unless I can get a trade in costing me less than ?100 out of pocket.
Mines used mainly for web surfing and the odd game on the train etc.
Far too many games coming out at the moment on various formats for me to be chucking cash about.

If HMV stock it I'm tempted to buy an iPad for the first time ever. Mainly because I have instore credit meaning I could get it for effectively 50% off....

I was hoping for a bit more to it than just a better screen res tho...

To be honest Apple are falling out of favour with me. The iPhone is fantastic. There's almost nothing wrong with it. But I don't like Apple's approach to things anymore and even the new Mountain Lion enhancements are all just things lifted from iPad apps. I'm tempted to dump Macs as well and move to Linux or BSD or something. It's only my software investment in OSX that's stopping me.

Still wanna see that new iPad screen though.
