iPad thread!

The iPad mini is going to sell like crazy this Xmas. It does make the iPod touch seem overpriced, coming in as it does at 249 to the iPad mini's 269.

I feel like Apple's product lines are getting way overcomplicated. Steve would never have let this happen!

The 4th generation iPad is a pretty minor bump really, it's more like a 3.5. It's gone from the A5X processor (an enhanced version of the iPhone 4S processor, with extra VRAM) to the A6X (iPhone 5 processor with extra VRAM). And it's got a Lightning connector instead of a dock connector. That's it really. Same form factor for the third time running.

Joe do you mean to say that you don't use a Sony tablet?!! At least tell me you have an Xperia phone.

Pah. I'll skip this one, if that's the only difference. I only bought the new/ipad3 less than six months ago Agree with the mini being a smash, poor people will love it!*

The iPad Mini seems to be in a bit of a no-man's land. It's priced above the Kindle Fire and Nexus 7 that won't convince the Apple sceptics. iPad owners won't downgrade as they already have a bigger screen. So that leaves current Apple fans (of which there are many) that haven't yet bought an iPad - how many is that?

It's for people that can't afford a full ?400 or who find the full sized one too inconvenient. It'll probably become more common than the full sized one

I'm an iPad owner and I'm interested In the iPad mini simply because I think the smaller frame will be better for playing games and also makes it more potable.

for me a 7inch iPad sounds like a great thing.

I'm an iPad Classic owner and they can shove it up their bum i'll probably jump on Surface for my tablet needs next.

This has made my possible tablet purchase more difficult. I was expect the mini to have a retina display but it doesnt and as such it seems overpriced. I've looked at a Nexus 7 but the small 16gb size puts me off though I see there is a 32gb version coming now but to be honest I'd want 64gb.

I think 7" is about right for a tablet, book size and not too large for carrying around etc... to be honest I wanted part of the new iPad 4th gen specifications in the mini size. 720p front camera (I skype home a lot), retina screen, fast processor.

I think all up it just means I'll wait it out even longer and see how MS fares with it's surface tablets and what the other competitors will do. If they announced a 64gb nexus with a really good front facing camera and maybe even a micro-SD port I'd probably get one.

I'm going to sell my iPad 3, and just get a Mini with the funds I think. TBH I find iPad's a bit unwieldy to take out, so the Mini should take care of that.

My needs are perfectly covered by my iPad / iPhone combo, so I don't really need anything in-between those two. The iPad Mini does look nice though. I'm more tempted by the new iMacs Would have preferred a bigger bump to the Mac Mini specs though.

Was pondering trading my iPad 2 for a Mini but would rather see it in the flesh first, to see what the screen size is like. I use mine for music apps, sheet music, and my Windows 2008 training(PDF), that's about it. Some sheet music is still quite small even on the 10" screen and I often have to place it horizontally because of that. Will need to wait to see how the camera kit works with the 30-pin converter as well because that's vital for my music apps.

Mind you, the more I think about it the less important size seems. I rarely take my iPad outside anyway. I have it on me now because I'm showing a client something later on and I had to bring my larger bag to fit it in so that's probably clouding my judgement.
