A brief summary of a few games ive picked up this week -

Let's Golf - I have the iPhone version but it doesn't scale up well on the iPad screen so I thought I'd pick up the iPad version for £2.99 (especially as I got the original for free during the Xmas promo). For those that don't know it's a very well made Hot Shots clone, well worth picking up.

Zen Bound 2 - Strangely addictive considering you're doing little more than wrapping string around weirdly shaped objects. Works much better as an iPad game due to the larger screen and looks rather nice too. A perfect 10 min time killer.

Plants Vs Zombies HD - Given the iPhone version is my favourite game on the device getting this was a no brainer. I haven't got that far into it yet so I don't know if there's the same slowdown when things get crazy as in the iPhone game but either way it doesn't matter when it looks this good. It so crisp and colourful, you'd be hard pressed to find something that shows off the iPad screen quite so well.

Pinball HD - I haven't played a good pinball game in years but I'm really enjoying this. 3 decent sized tables, each with vastly different themes. Graphically it's very slick and the controls (tap each side of the screen for each flipper) are flawless.

Minigore HD - I had intended to buy Geometry Wars but I'd never played the iPhone version of this and it was half the price so I thought I'd give it a go instead. It works much like GW, except swap a spaceship with a gun carrying guy and enemies with zombie-like monsters. I've barely scratched the surface but it's been a lot of fun so far. Dual-wielding a shotgun/grenade launcher combo of death is rather satisfying.

Nice list, these "HD" versions sure do start racking up the money on iTunes

Apparently I spent £25 on "HD" apps over the weekend.

Geometry Wars, Sam n Max, Asphalt 5 HD, Wired, Civilization, to name a few. Odd thing is, I spend more time playing We Rule (when I can get on the servers) which was free!

Wish I had gone for either NFS:Shift, or Real Racing instead of Asphalt though.

The lack of flash has bothered me though on a few occasions I'm currently shopping for a car, and obviously, all of the car makers "configure your car" things are in either flash or java. So that's left me having to reach for my laptop.

I hope all these iPad and iPad games are all going to be logged in the Your Gaming Spend - 2010 thread!

Don't be telling me you've bought one for "work". Shhhyeah, right!

Had a play with one in PC World at the weekend. There were lots of people hanging around playing with the demo units; the head of the Mac section came over and said "Is there anyone here who actually wants to buy one?"... the look on his face when everyone ignored him was hilarious

It was really nice to use, the screen looks excellent, but I still can't see it being any more useful of convenient than my iphone / macbook combo. I therefore give it a minimum of three months before I give in and buy one! Probably when I'm on holiday in America at the end of August to save a bit of cash.

May as well post it here I suppose, Apple now have a HTML5 Showcase page on their site.

Bet it doesn't include half the sites I've tried to use this week on my iPad.

Article on the register on how apples interpretation of html5 is somewhat different to everyone else's!

My 3 year Vaio is dying. Battery is shot, freezing, Internet continually dropping out (ever other device in the house can hold a stable connection).

Now Mrs Teddy has finished her degree the only thing I'll be using it for is surfing the web so I'm seriously considering buying one of these when in the US next week. Will a 16G US wifi only model work in the UK with no issues (thinking iTunes and Apps compatibilty)?

Yeah US ones work fine in the UK. Doesn't matter about location.

If you're just getting it for web browsing then you're soon going to get annoyed with it. They even struggle with this site (can't scroll the reply text boxes).

Played around with an iPad now.

God I do want one, they are sublime. The best part was realising GiantBomb had changed their videos from flash to quicktime!!

Luckily seeing the price of the "HD" (ahem) versions of the apps I'd already paid for, combined with price of the device has just totally put me off.

You can scroll by dragging the magnifying glass OR simply make the reply box bigger by tapping the arrows in the top right corner.

I do wish this site was a bit more iPhone/Pad friendly though, in forever touching user names instead of thread titles if the title is a short one. IGN has its own forum App while GAF has a mobile version that works in browsers that one of its members made. Anyone here clever enough to create one for us?

Ah, cheers for that. Will give it a go!

Has anyone grabbed the iPad version of Games(tm) ? http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/games...43286024?mt=8#

I think there are other Imagine Publishing titles too. Retro Gamer?

Cool, will have a look, I bought that Korg iElectribe, pretty rad for £5.99. Can't make very good tunes though.

It's the same version as the iPhone, but works so much better on the iPad due to the larger screen size, I gave up using it on the iPhone as the screen is just too small for reading.

Doesn't help me as I don't have an iPhone, but I've bought it anyway, so will give it a go when I get home tonight

I have the Retro Gamer App from the the same company and it's pretty poor to be honest. The last update made it a lot quicker but it is still really slow and there are compression artefacts around the text.
Hopefully it will improve as it's one of the reasons I bought an iPad.
