I think running in 2x mode is fine.

Almost everything I've tried looks dreadful in 2x mode, games and apps. TomTom looks decent in 2x, though I'm unlikely to use it on the iPad whilst driving.

Your mileage may vary but I was disappointed by the 2x upscaling.

There is no "upscaling", it just doubles every pixel, hence "2x". It does exactly what I'd expect.

Doubles them? That would distort the shape, surely?

It doesn't appear to.... perhaps the pixels are square on the ipad?

I have no issues with 2x mode. But then I didnt buy an iPad to look at iPhone apps in 2x.

Apologies. Doubling in size to allow it to fill up the screen of the iPad is what I meant.

Like ChrisField, I've tried to keep iPhone apps on my iPhone, and iPad apps on my iPad.

Some apps are universal and you get optimised versions of each for the price of one.

eh its not too bad, I run chess with friends which is an iphone app on it and it looks alright.

espgaluda 2 looks fine really too.

                  Fine doesnt sound too promising.

But two squares make a rectangle, surely? I suppose it just makes the lines thicker though.

Wonder if it explains why Peggle looks worse on the iPhone since its iPad enabling update?

OK so it doubles the length and width of the pixels... not the area

My mistake - I meant doubles the area, not just length of width.

Anyway, it shouldn't look any blurrier since there's no filtering applied (unless I'm mistaken).
Everything just looks bigger, which has it's ups and downs, it's exactly like plugging a retro console into a bigger TV (though not like going from CRT to LCD, just scaling up size). IMO espgaluda looks great on either.

What case is everyone using? The official ipad one is a rip for £30 and I don't like the way it covers the screen bezel. I'm torn between the macally bookstand or x-gear folio (which is nice but has a naff carbon fiber look to it), I kinda want something which will sit in the wedge shape.

Although the dodocase is lovely, but a bit too pricy

I've been looking for hours now and they're all a bit lame really.
